Remember BP CEO Robert Dudley?

Now he’s balking at paying damages for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Millions of dollars. You’re BP. Your 2012 profit was $20 billion. This is the biggest disaster and the greatest shame in your company’s history and you’re squawking about a few million dollars. And setting up a fraud-hotline. (Fox confirms that, BTW.)

sigh All right Mr. Dudley. This tanker contains, in petroleum, the market value of every dollar you have paid out in Deepwater-related claims to date. Your refund shall be delivered personally. And forcibly. And rectally. And then, well, I hope you have a good appetite for dead birds in tar sauce.

Splendid idea! Sure, pay investigators to check into bogus claims and squash them, all the better to have attention paid to the legitimate claims, which are substantial, I’m given to understand. Quite numerous, as well. The Krakatoa of billable hours.

I’d be willing to bet he’s just blowing smoke, but, sure, call his bluff.

Prior problems doesn’t excuse future fraud by others. So what’s your point?

So because BP has lots of money, they should just dole it out to whomever asks? In that case, there’s a shiny new Tesla I want to buy.

We’re talking Louisiana here. People who lived 50 miles inland are suing for losing time watching the coverage, no doubt. BP being scum does not imply that some of the people trying to sue aren’t crooks - not to mention that the judge is a former plaintiff’s attorney.
I hate it, but I’m sympathetic to BP in this thing.

I have little sympathy for BP. The ongoing health issues from the chemicals used and the overall shoddy job they did should hurt them a lot! If the penalties are not severe then what is stopping them in the future from doing similar things.

Oh, yes, that’s another thing, Mr. Dudley! We all heard your heartfelt apologies back in 2010, we know you care, so we know you want to do your part to help heal the planet, reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by reducing petroleum consumption, and stick it to those evil oil companies, yes? Of course you do. I’ll just put you down for 100 million Teslas . . .

No! The Devil you say! But wait, “former plaintiff’s attorney”? Maybe he’s in recovery? In some program?

“Hi, my name is Fred, and I’m a plaintiff’s attorney…”
:Hi, Fred!.."

What the fuck are you on about? What is the subject of this rant? What do you want BP to do?

Is there some actual reason to suspect that “curtailing fraud” is being used as an excuse to evade/delay payouts legitimately owed by BP, or is this just a pointless rant?

Just for myself, my sympathy still leans a lot more to the fisherman trying to sell his 10W30 weight shrimp.

Why do you hate successful people, Glutton ?

The damages, if any, should come straight out of employees’ pockets. These lazy parasites – many of whom are doubtless homosexuals – are the ones responsible, not noble Job Creators. Ultimately the blame falls on America’s unfortunate descent into Marxism, with travesties like the minimum age law. Employees might have been more conscientious if properly motivated.

Go back to North Korea, where you belong.

Seriously? Only former corporate attorneys get to be judges? They don’t have any biases? I see.

They killed my parents right in front of my eyes when I was little, superstitious, cowardly lot, etc.

Well, there’s Robert Dudley; he’s sorry, and he cares.

Brings a tear to me eye to hear someone might be treating BP unfairly.

If you live on the Gulf Coast, you’d better have an ophthalmologist check that out.

Jeez, first he pushes his wife down the stairs so he’ll be free to marry the queen and now this! What a jerk.

Wasn’t Robert Dudley the secret or not so secret squeeze of Elizabeth I? How is he still alive after all these years if he isn’t a vampire? Can we put a stake through his heart? Or at least put a cap his f’in well, I mean ass.

N.B.: The Deepwater Horizon oil spill is not just a thing-over-and-done-with. The environmental effects are still being felt.
