Remember the Judge who told the rape victim to "Get over it"?

Looks like the story might well have been complete BS made up by a chatty assistant prosecutor, and sensationalized & extended by a newpaper reporter.

Libel Suit Takes Aim at Print Reporter’s Words on TV

Yep, the original story was a media lynching. The quotes from the deposition are spot on.

How do I know? I proofread transcripts for Boston-based court reporters, and I proofread those depositions when they were taken.

The defense wouldn’t want me on the jury that will hear this case. Not after reading the full text of those depositions, and having my impressions confirmed by the court reporters who transcribed the testimony and saw the witnesses in person. The Boston Herald witnesses came across as reptilian scum who were utterly indifferent to the devastation their crappy reporting wreaked.

I read far too many depositions in far too many cases to care about most of them once the job is done. But this case has stayed with me because of the outrage it roused in me. I hope the plaintiff judge kicks the legal crap out of the defendants.

Let’s hear it for journalistic integrity - nowadays so often observed in the breach, rather than in fact.
