Did any SDoper own a pair of X-Ray glasses as a kid? If so, did they do anything at all? How did they work, if at all? Or, was it just a scam toy to con kids?
Always wondered, but never daring enough to waste my allowance money on it…

Basically, each eyepiece had two pieces of cardboard, with holes in them, sandwiching a feather between them. The effect was to scatter the light so you’d be out-of-focus. That made the edges of the object looked at to be blurry. That would give the illusion of seeing inside it.
The end result was not bad if you were looking at an arm and expected to see a bone surrounded by softer tissue.
But it was pretty useless for looking at someones underwear, despite the pictures in the ads.
