Remembering Maxi Jazz

Probably not that many Faithless fans here, but I was saddened to read about the recent death of Maxi Jazz. Insomnia in particular remains a beautiful and unique song, and cool people will remember it decades from now.

However, I preferred Drifting Away.

I had no idea he was 65.

There was a music channel 20 years ago, not MTV or MTV2, but it played electronic music way late at night on the weekends. Faithless was a regular band in their cycle of videos.

I ended up listening to most of their music up to that point and liked them quite a bit.

Me neither. I’d have thought he was about my age (late 40s).

I’m a fan. Got into them because I was a big Dido fan first. God is a DJ is my favourite track.

I’m not exactly a super fan, but “Insomnia” (and to a lesser degree, “God Is A DJ”) is one of the greatest and most archetypal songs from the 90s, at least for me. Those were my college years, and there was no party without playing the song. Was a great time for electronic dance music, and most best acts came from the UK.
