Remote Procedure Call (Computer Help)

I’m running windows XP and its forcing itself to shutdown randomly.

An error window pops up and it says that windows must shutdown because “Remote Procedure Call” ended unexpectedly.

Can anyone tell me what this is and how I can fix it?

It seems to only happen when I’m online. I use DSL, don’t run any 3rd party firewall programs.

It looks like your machine is infected with the Blaster worm. You can find more information here, here, or here.

See, these days this is just asking for trouble. Just looking at the Apache logs on my Linux firewall/etc box makes me feel unclean; I don’t wanna know what’s happening on the other ports.

I recommend you get either a hardware router/firewall, one of those 3rd party firewall programs, or at least turn on the firewall option in XP’s networking. Microsoft promises they’re fixing up their OSs 'net presence in the next service pack, but don’t hold your breath.
