Here is what I want to do: Have my computer broadcast a signal to a set of speakers set up in my kitchen or upstairs so I can listen to the songs I am playing while I am working in places other than my living room.
Is there a cheap way to do this? Sound quality is not a big concern here.

x10.com sells some video senders; you could skip connecting the video part and just use the audio portion. You’d need to add your own speakers and amplifier to the deal.
Alternatively, there are several brands of wireless speakers on the market; find one with line-level inputs (as opposed to speaker level) and you should be good to go.
