Remote starter for a 2012 Hyundai Elantra

I’ve purchased two units over the last 10 years… IIRC both were in the $200-250 range including installation.

The Hyundai dealership wants $450 for theirs.

Any suggestions for a cheaper model? How well do you think a big outfit like Best Buy would stand by their installation?

We just put on in our 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring.

We ended-up with a Compustar 2-Way remote starter.

We quite like it, ours might have been a bit more because it is a 5-Speed (as opposed to an automatic).

The price (up here in Canada) was around $280 + installation. It’s tough to break down the installation, I had a new head unit and Sirius Satellite tuner installed (total labor was $350). There was another $90 part to integrate our power locks.

By the time the dust settled it was probably around $500-550. It apparently is one of the top remote starters on the market.

We had actually bought a factory starter from Hyundai when we bought the car, but when it arrived they then just realized it didn’t work for 5-Speeds. So they refunded my the $500.

Hope that helps?
