I wish that I had thought of this. Such a simple and elegant solution for removing a stuck ring. All thats needed is a piece of string and something to get the string started under the ring…

Ever got a ring stuck on your finger? Amazing trick to get it off!

In the video a man helps someone remove their ring using only pliers and a piece of string with a clever trick that involves creating a spiral of string for the ring to unwind on.

The man begins by using the pliers to get underneath the tight ring and push the string through it so it sits underneath.

He then continues by twisting the string around the finger towards the tip in a tight spiral until the string forms a tight coil from the base to the centre of the finger.

He then firmly secures the string at the centre of the finger by tucking the loose end under one of the folds of string.

Then returning to the base of the finger, the man takes the start of the string and simply unwinds the tightly wound coil that has been secured to the ring, bringing it clean off the finger.

The ring kiosk at the mall swears by Windex, which worked to remove their product when I could not.

Trippy. I’ve never heard of this before but for some reason as soon as I read the thread title I thought: “You know what might work? A string wrapped around the finger.”

And when I clicked the link, that’s exactly what it was! Awesome.
But, it would have been nice if i could have come up with this inspiration when I actually did have a ring stuck on my finger. :smack:

It failed on me, a few years ago. But then again, by the time I tried dental floss, I’d tried every other trick I knew (lotion, soap, windex, etc), and my knuckle was pretty bruised and swollen. I ended up having to go to a jewelry store and have them cut it off. Once my knuckle healed, I went back and had the ring re-sized. It was my wedding band, which I never take off except for acting gigs, and at that point I hadn’t had a gig in about 2 years that required removing my ring - until one day I did. :mad:
