Removing iTunes "Genius"

I loaded “Genius,” and found it to be more like “Idiot.” How do I remove it, or at least disable it? Those little arrows are getting in the way.

On the bottom right of the screen there is a box to hide the genius sidebar (the part that links to the store). I found that to be a PITA as well. I do like the genius playlists though (where you highlight a song and click on the genius box and it makes a playlist from songs already in your library).

There is an extremely easy fix for this: go to the store menu at the top of the window (not the store tab at the side of the screen) and click “Turn off Genius”. Problem solved. (And I agree that Genius is pretty useless-especially when the music you have on your playlists isn’t stocked by iTunes.)

I did this, but it doesn’t get rid of the little arrows when I select a track.

The little arrows you’re referring to are just links to the iTunes store; they’re (I think) unrelated to Genius. Previous versions of iTunes had an option to disable them, but for some reason Apple decided to remove this option in iTunes 8. You can still get rid of them by directly editing the iTunes preferences file; here’s the procedure for Macs, and the procedure for Windows.

The arrows have never really bothered me, but they definitely didn’t come with Genius, like **MikeS **said.
