I believe this thread has been closed for little purpose except that its got an objectionable subject. While the subject matter may be considered creepy, I think its a perfectly cromulent subject to be in MPSIMS. More than one topic has been about bathroom stuff, bathroom humor, or weird bodily functions. I don’t see why this one should be singled out for closing. If its that pointless, just leave it open and let it die on its own.
While I didn’t close it, I suggested it be closed. This was not because of it was pointless, or about bathroom habits, which are fair game, but because of its voyeuristic (and hence creepy) nature. Given that the first three responses were pretty much insulting to the OP, it was nearly certain to develop into a train wreck. It’s very likely it wouldn’t “die on it’s own,” but it wasn’t probable that it go in a good direction.
I know some people think we should just let train wrecks go on indefinitely, or should wait until a bunch of cars are already piled up off the tracks. I expect we will hear from them shortly. But the problem is that such threads breed rancor not just toward the OP, but also among the people taking sides. And threads that encourage pointless rancor I think are not really beneficial to the board (although I acknowledge that some people find it entertaining.;))

Meh. I get hot under the collar when ‘pointless’ threads are closed despite obvious evidence that pointless or not, people are enjoying posting in them. That thread, however, is tasteless and unlike the pan-fried semen thread or the strange things heard during sex threads, neither funny nor informative, so best put a bullet through the poor thing and let it die.
edit: It’s also a little too close to the “Is this someone’s fetish” line for my comfort. There’s nothing wrong with a little prurience now and then, but let’s have some decorum about it.
I knew someone would defend that thread. I’m actually surprised it took this long.
I am not heavy handed with thread closings. That thread started bad and went straight down the drain. I saw no good outcomes or discussion coming out of it. The bad outcome had already started. I just got in before the full train wreck. I am not one to cry troll over one post but if a member continued to post OPs like that I know what my opinion would be.
Well I learned that women fart audibly in that thread. I suspected it, but I lacked proof. Now, I’m appalled at the hypocrisy of them acting all uppity when a guy rips one.
Well, could we give it a little more time to see if it would develop into a pointless thread? It was closed less than 2 hours after it was made. Seems too quick on the trigger. I’m sure somebody, someone like me perhaps, would have added something useful to the conversation about women farting
If you’re really so interested in the topic, why don’t you start a thread on it?*
Like I said, it’s not the topic itself but the general creepiness of the original thread that was the problem.
*I know the MPSIMS mods will hate me for this.
Well I don’t want to do that because it may just be closed again. If that thread reopens, then I know it will stick around for at least a while. Plus, I can’t match the weirdness of the original OP and don’t want to try

Well before I noticed it was closed, I was also going to say that while I’ve never had such an opportunity to listen in on women using the restroom, from what I’ve heard, if accurate, they are seriously violating the no-talking rule that all men know by instinct. Nothing too weird, just an observation. Also I was going to ask how long until he goes full Porky’s and sticks his dick through a hole for the women to see. Maybe he can attach googly eyes on the tip so it looks like a hilarious snake instead of a (possibly) uncircumcised penis

I’ve been here 15 years, and a mod for half that time, and that thread had train wreck written all over it. The OP was like a locomotive hurtling down rusty tracks, with a cracked boiler, no brakes, spewing black smoke, throwing sparks, with Casey Jones leaning on the throttle with glazed eyes and a head full of snow, heading straight for Dead Man’s Curve at 150 miles an hour.

I know that you are one of the more strong opinions of “Leave topics open pretty much always unless it’s spam” (see? I read your posts. I remember you saying this a few times. That you’re always for leaving topics open unless there is extremely good reason to close them)…so if YOU’RE saying it was a good idea to close it, that’s almost enough alone for me to think it was a good call.
