Moved to MPSIMS from Elections.
I heard about this earlier this week. I’m still giggling about it.

Shouldn’t someone from GOPAC or the Tea Party Caucus, like, put out a memo to all ® officeholders, candidates and staffers thereof, pointing out that The Onion is a parody site? This keeps happening.
'Cause the alternative is that they are doing it on purpose under the premise their intended audience will be too thick to figure it out and will just remember the bizarre accusation…
Maybe they’ve been fed so much ridiculous bullshit from the likes of Fox News that they’re so divorced from reality that an article like this seems believable to them.
Well, The Onion is about as credible as Fox News. (And is less biased as well.)
This is what’s really disturbing about this is the world-view of people like this, whose view of the left is so skewed, and who have so demonized PP and others, that they read something like this and it completely fits what they believe. I don’t see how anyone can realize that this is what Americans think of each other and still have any hope for rational resolution of our problems.
This is true. I posted this partly because it’s so funny but also because it’s such a disturbing example of what the right-wing propaganda mill has produced.
I posted this in the Elections forum for a reason. Maybe I should have stated that reason rather than putting a silly smiley face.
Each generation of propagandists has bought into the world view fed to them by the previous generation and then ramps it up a notch. Where does this runaway process lead if it isn’t halted somehow?
Indeed. (Although my post is so badly-written as to be nearly incomprensible even to me; I wonder what I was drinking so early in the morning. :dubious: )
It was perfectly comprehensible to me. Maybe I was drinking the same thing.
Proposed Corollary to Poe’s Law : There is no satire so obvious that some conservative, somewhere, won’t fall for it.
I love the comment someone left on his facebook page: “The Onion is satire. How did you ever get elected?”
