Rep. Katherine Harris Condemns Separation of Church, State

Belinda Noah
I did not know that politicians had started using rendering engines for their promo-photos.

Just think of it as making up for the decades the GOP spent on demonizing the words “liberal” and “Democrat”.

 This lady ain’t firin’ on all four cylinders.

I was referring to Noah, of course.

But if ivylass would seriously consider voting for her, she is likewise a few cans short of a sixpack.

Whatever, dude.

As stated above, I’m voting for McBride in the primary. If Harris wins, then I have to go with Choice 2. I’m not a big fan of Noah, either (anyone who used to have their zodiac sign in their campaign website is a bit scary, IMO) and while I am also a proponent of the FairTax, I also don’t get what she means by the quote you posted.

I think McBride has a fair shot at winning the primary, since I think most conservative/Republican voters are in an “Anyone But Harris” mode.

Are you sure? She still leads the Pub field in every poll I’ve seen.

Could be. I’m just going off the folks I’ve talked to. Harris might be afraid of McBride, if her little stunt is any indication.

Is Nelson running unopposed?

Correct, but who is Sue Cobb supporting in the election?

Apparently. This page lists all the candidates, Dem, Pub and indie, and Nelson is the only Dem listed under “U.S. Senator”.

According to this article, her comments aren’t hurting her among her core constituency.

I’ll take care of thinking for him.

This “philosophy” sure helps explain why she took the steps she did in 2000 to make sure that GWB stole the Florida electoral votes from the godless Al Gore. After all, she was just doing God’s will.

]FriarTed, you realize the contradiction in believing that god picks our leaders, and voting. Why vote if god is going to pick whomever he wants anyway? Think maybe god needs a little help? What happened in 2000? God wasn’t quite up to fixing the election, so he had to have the fundie supremes help out?

Hmm, perhaps a new democratic strategy: Convince fundie morons that god will put Pat Robertson in the White House, so there is no reason to even show up to the polls. Of course, the fundies will have their stock answers ready, “god helps those who helps themselves,” or some such bullshit. If they really believed god picked the leaders they wouldn’t vote.

Terrific comparison, Contra !

Now, everybody gather 'round for an elementary civics lesson:

Separation of church and state is NECESSARY in a free and democratic society! If laws are passed based on the fundamental tenets of ANY religion, those who do not subscribe to that faith are disenfranchised and, by association, become second-class citizens. The Taliban are only one example. In Israel, there have been incidents of women being stoned by Hasidic Jewish men for daring to pray at the Wailing Wall.

But the biggest bunch of bullshit comes from the Fundie fuckheads. They spout their line of fundamentalist Christianity while simultaneously blaming fundamentalist Islam for all the world’s ills. I’ve got news for you all–the two sides are more alike than either would be willing to acknowledge. Both sides want to make their beliefs the law of the land at the expense of those who would disagree with them.

What do Katharine Harris and Osama bin Laden have in common? They both profess to know what God wants–and they’re equally dangerous!

Bah. This is America. We all know that only Christians are important you fucking terrorist!

-Joe

Quite true. Of course, there is one and only one religion WRT which that outcome would be a good thing!

Does God pick the rulers of any *other * country? If He picks them all, they should know better than to go kill each other’s people so often, shouldn’t they?

Or maybe only the US is truly anointed among nations, perhaps Israel too given their key role in preparing the Holy Land for the Apocalypse, and all those other Frenchy places are simply damned.

Two, depending on your point of view.

You are missing the point. God is a Roman. Humans exist to fight for His amusement.

Dayum – that’s the first explanation of God I’ve ever encountered that actually makes sense.
