Repeal the 19th? What war on women?

I’m thinking that if all the women who believe that women shouldn’t be allowed to vote, simply didn’t vote themselves, we’d all be better off.

Brilliant! I am emailing my Congressperson this excellent suggestion.

Wouldn’t forbidding them from leaving the house without a male escort cut back on traffic even more?
I’ll bet Ted Cruz would sign on immediately.

They are going about their lives exactly the same, except in a sad little fear-bubble. Now they are more convinced than ever that Mexican rapists will take their jobs, that cross-dressing rapists will assault their kids in bathrooms, that “they” are coming for the guns, and/or that refugee=terrorist. None of it is true, of course, but once you surround yourself with so much wrong, it’s hard to see the truth, or admit you’re wrong. It’s easier to make excuses and rearrange the world to suit your own theories.

At this point they HAVE to be trolling the country, right?

Right?

Alternately, please let them push this over the next few weeks. It might be worth an extra senator or two.

Too late. Pence already authored the bill.

I have been wishing someone would bring back periods for pence. after all, as interested as he was in the menstrual cycles of indiana women, surely he must be dying to know about the cycles of all american women, right?

Isn’t there a saying along the lines of, “Politics is understanding that there is no such thing as rock bottom”?

i’m an optomist.

Why stop with the 19th? Repeal the 13th as well.

‘In voting for Trump the consequences will not be dire for me, but we will have sent a message to corrupt politicians that they cannot buy us. Business profits directly by being cozy with politicians and so they are able to ship jobs overseas and leave my community with nothing but fast food restaurant jobs. For years I have listened to Republican candidates, people I have voted for, tell me wealth just requires effort and those without jobs are simply lazy. I am not lazy and I am tired of being out of work. Democrats are an entirely different people, not like us, they don’t share my values.’

This is the mindset, I think. And I don’t think it’s crazy. I understand it, even if I don’t agree with the vote it brings.

I try to be a realist.

OTOH, it is said, “The path of least resistance is downhill. Eventually you end up in a deep, dark hole.”

That suggests the path of most resistance is uphill, and that it eventually leads to the top. So one is an observation, the other a moral lesson: Fight! Resist!

Nah, you can stop down by the river. In your van.

Progress it seems to many, by definition, is always right. IS progress, whatever the cost, the greater good? I consider myself a liberal and for me these are still far from tautologies.

Bless the internet’s little cotton socks. These few lunatics would never have been heard from were it not for the power of social media. It really isn’t worth getting angry about. These people are of zero consequence.

Except for the part where one of the major party candidates for president is actively catering to their demands.

I try to be an optometrist, but then they find out I only have a computer science degree and indict me on bullshit charges like “pretending to be a medical professional.”

Are you sure it isn’t a fake-out? Perhaps there’ll be a follow-up about a country where women don’t have the right to vote, like Saudi Arabia?

I like that the conclusion to ‘‘women and men are voting differently’’ is ‘‘women shouldn’t vote,’’ not, “women clearly have a different experience in the world and it seems what is in my best interest as a man may not be in theirs. Gosh, maybe my experience of the world isn’t the only one.”

This is asking too much, right?

This reminds me of a FB post going around about ‘‘White people complain Luke Cage is racist because it has too many black people.’’ Then you click and there are like two tweets. Yes, all those white people, clearly outraged.

I think we could use this in our favor, though. When that shit goes viral (if it already hasn’t) it’s going to scare the shit out of women, and they will go vote. Whether it’s really worth being upset about is immaterial if being upset about it could lead to something potentially good.

What specific progress do you suppose may not be worth its cost?
