Nothing like that special feeling that comes from clicking on the “Recent Deaths” at Wikipedia and finding your name on top.
Reading onwards I was relieved to confirm that I am not in fact dead. My condolences to the family and friends of the other Michael King, eminent New Zealander historian.
What’s weird is how easily I might have missed it. I don’t usually check the Recent Deaths page on Wikipedia, but I was checking the Recent Changes page. Because the amount of traffic on Wikipedia, Recent Changes usually drop off the page in under five minutes. But by coincidence, I happened to click on it just after someone posted they were adding Michael King to the list of Recent Deaths.
I had heard of Dr King before by googling my name but I’ve never read any of his work.
