Representative Peter King (R-NY): "Too many mosques in this country"

Story here.

Rep. King now insists the quote was taken out of context and he just meant there are too many mosques that don’t cooperate with law enforcement. However, he’s also on record, in an interview with Sean Hannity, as saying that 85% of mosques in America are “controlled by the extremist leadership.” Whether he has anything to back that up, I have no idea. But is he going to start hunting for “Islamic Sympathizers” next?! Call for a new House Un-Western Activities Committee?!

Peter King’s own record on support for terrorism is not a great one, what with his long term backing of the IRA.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiice…

“But, but, those were WHITE guys!”

His football writing is OK though.

There are too many Peter Kings in Congress.

Its quotes like the Op’s that made me laugh out loud every time I heard that radio commercial that ran before last election day. It was Ed Koch giving a heart-felt endorsement for his “good friend” Peter King.

“How am I Doin’…?”
“Senile Dementia, Ed, Senile Dementia…”

I can’t be the only one who thought the title was “Too many mosquitos” only to find out my state representative isn’t doing a thing about those pesky bloodsuckers.

The only thing more depressing that this statement coming from a public official is the knowledge that some godawful number of people probably wanted to pump their fist in the air and scream “FUCK YEAH” when they heard it.

Too many in that country? He should see this one.

The great part of this story is that King was the head of the Homeland Security Committee until January. Makes you feel warm inside.

Shame on Long Island’s voters for re-electing this douchenozzle year after year. He could probably toss a pipe bomb into a mosque and still get re-elected.

“Unedited” YouTube video of the interview.

Meh. King’s comments are mere nutter blathering.

You want to see something really scary? Scroll down the page and read some of the comments.

If I were inclined to be generous, I could see that video quote as being something like:

“there are, uh, too many mosques in this county – there’s too many people – that are sympathetic to radical Islam

Or: There are too many mosques and people in this country that are sympathetic to radical Islam.

Poorly worded, and one can argue as to how many mosques/people sympathetic to radical Islam are ‘too many’, but I would have to give the guy the benefit of the doubt based on this single statement

Looks rather restrained and tasteful for Youtube commentary, to be honest. Reading through the first page I saw only one mention of nazis, two instances of swearing, no racial slurs and not a single ALL CAPS MULTIPLE EXCLAMATION POINT POST!!!1!

Yeah, although not always phrased too neatly, some of those comments do demonstrate a bit of critical thought - not something you see often on YouTube!

“We should be looking at them more carefully and finding out how we can infiltrate them.”

He’s been misunderstood. By “more carefully” he means “naked, and take pictures”. By “infiltrate” he means “touch them inappropriately” I think this is standard fare on the republican platform, though it does have a bit more Midwest to it than you’d expect from a New Yorker.

RO RO RO your boat…

As for other great moments in anti-any religion that isn’t Jayzus oriented, who was that fine, upstanding politician some time ago who had to be carried out of the Capitol for complaining about the Hindu prayer opening of that session? He said something like “Your religion has too many gods!” among other gems.

This incident? It was not “some time ago” but quite recent, it was the first-ever Hindu opening prayer in the Senate (can’t speak of the House), and the disruptors were not politicians.

Ha! We dopers are not foolish enough to gaze into the gaping maw of hopeless rhetoric and idiotic insult that is Youtube comments. To even read those comments would make us, as a result, stupider and less able to recognize logic and reasonable discourse. Until finally our message board, a dim beacon of correct spelling and insightful commentary blazing against the shadow of the…

…of the darkness that is, uh…

Oh God.
It may already be too late.
