Well, maybe. Its true that he doesn’t have to worry about another term. But the congresscritters don’t worry about anything but. If Bush ever becomes as unpopular as I think he deserves, they will back away from him like he had smallpox and was trying to kiss 'em.

Has any President been re-elected with a lower approval? What happened next?

Easy. Religion. You can get another job, but HELL IS FOREVER, son!

And Lord knows, the whole goddamn country’s going straight to hell if we let same-sex couples enjoy nuptial bliss.

Cause you know, it’s an abomination and shit. But if you want to sell your daughters into slavery, or pass a woman down from brother to brother, be my fucking guest.

Don’t kid yourself into thinking that 55 million people had the extreme (yes, I said “extreme”) hatred for Mr. Bush and his administration that you do.

To quote a mouth-breathing moron on the Rick & Bubba show the other morning (aside from Rick and/or Bubba, who are both decidedly mentally challenged themselves,) “I’m votin’ for Bush, cause I just feel like he’s a good Christian mayun!”

Do you think it matters to these people that not everyone in America is a Christian? Hell no. Or rather, yes. The non-Christians are just sinners waiting to be cleansed.

Please don’t say that. I voted for Kerry, so I’m one of those 55 million other Americans you’re talking about, and I also think you’re politically pretty extreme. So, please don’t use my vote to justify your political opinions.

I love this. So long as the left continues to blame everyone and everything but themselves they will not change and the Republicans will gain the 60 seats we need in the Senate to start inacting some real change.

Laughs maniacly

Cool. I’ll ask you because I’m just fascinated:

What about my POLITICS is so extreme, hmm?

Ummm…don’t kid YOURself that how I feel about Bush defines my politics.

Changing your tune…and mere pixels later!

Been paying too much attention to Cheney telling Edwards he never met him, I guess.

Go back and read again what you accused me of, 'k?

Yeah, but here’s the thing, Bill. Couple years back, he was running about 80%. Now he’s, what, 47-48%. What do you think is going to make that better? Splendid news of painless victory in Iraq? A suddenly rosy enonomy? See any evidence to support such optimism?

I don’t rightly know. I remember when LBJ became so unpopular that he decided not to run, but this is different, GeeDubya won’t be running again. When I pose the question “Can a very unpopular President be effective?”, I’m not intending to advance an opinion, I really don’t know. I suspect not, because the Congress remains sensitive to elections. If fealty to Bush becomes a political albatross, I suspect congresscritters to display typical rock-solid loyalty, like rodents in an untenable nautical situation.

But that conjecture is still shy of a decided opinion.

Good lordy. Does he have to give a written answer, or can he just laugh incessantly as a response?

Well, if its the best he can do, we’ll just try to be understanding.

the bobbing and weaving here is amazing.

Isn’t there ANYONE here, given this apparently pervasive belief, that can cite something about my political views and ideals, that most people would call “extreme”? Anyone at all? You there, in the back? No?

Gee…must be more bullshit, then. That Bushlike tendency to believe that if you just say something enough, and act like its true, it will just become true, kinda like Dorothy’s shoes.

Blah, Blah, Blah, as usual.

Please refresh everyone’s memory. What exactly was your position regarding Gore’s popular vote count in 2000? IIRC, your position was that he should have been President, based on that factor. Am I wrong?

Why are you suddenly asking? I thought you knew for sure what my position was? Is this your admission that you were speaking directly from your sphincter?

I haven’t bobbed or weaved. In fact, I probably share more of your views than I disagree with. What I find… have always found… extremely irritating is your tendency to demonize the opposition because they don’t share your views. It’s worst of all partisan practices, no matter which side it comes from. It’s friggin’ childish, and it detracts from any reasonable points being made.

I can’t be arsed to sort through your handiwork for examples, so I’ll just point to the very minor example within this thread: You suggest that republicans are simpletons that don’t know they are being manipulated, while you, with typically superior liberal insight, know better.

Your opinion, you’re entitled to it, and I’m not going to try and argue you out of it.

That’s an example of your opinion about your paragraph one complaint, which is not the assertion we started with, which is that my politics are extreme.

Just finding ME extreme doesn’t prove that my politics, or those of the other 55 million people who voted the way I did, are extreme.
And incidentally, I did not suggest that Republicans are simpletons at all, in fact, I was pretty clear that this is not at all the case (see my opening paragraph) What I did suggest is that simpletons tend to vote Republican, precisely because they are so very easy to manipulate. Which makes sense, given that Republicans in general, Karl Rove in particular, are vastly more skilled at manipulation than Democrats are.

Stoid, your position, such as it is, has been obvious from the day you first posted. Witness this from the glurge thread you posted:

You’re a silly little git, without the ounce of brains one requires to breath.

Ain’t gonna fucking happen. Not while I draw breath.
