Besides, “The Star Spangled Banner” is a crappy anthem. Musically, I mean, never mind pacifists’ objections to the war-glory lyrics. A better choice would be “America the Beautiful” or “This Is My Country.”

Oddly enough, a healthy dose of reply-alled Snopes stopped all the glurge forwards people used to send me.
I have found that sending a link from Snopes or something similar will usually stop glurgers from sending me any more glurge. Sometimes they stop writing me altogether. Usually this is a good thing.
Yeah, but it has provenance that those other songs can’t dream of. It’s about a pretty big turning point in U.S. history by guy who was actually there. Way better than some stupid platitudes about fields of grain and what not.

From what I could gather the military judge handling the case against the alleged mastermind denied the Pentagon’s request for a 120 day delay (part of Obama’s Gitmo closing/review of the cases thing), which forced the Pentagon to either drop the charges or allow the arraignment to proceed, which would create even more problems.
