Of course, it cannot be overlooked that we used to have a system in place whereby unemployed persons could quickly relocate to higher employability locales. They were called “hobos”.

Nobody gets rich off government benefits any more than anyone gets gourmet meals at soup kitchens. And nobody really expects to.
There are some cases that people do abuse the system, sure. But it’s pretty rare. Someone getting $133 a month in SNAP benefits (which is the average) they maybe don’t need can get in trouble buying food and selling it to others, but won’t get rich doing so. Buying one extravagant meal with it or maybe two means eating a gourmet meal once or twice a month - is that how the rich eat. And even if someone does manage to get food stamps that they illegally sell for a pittance or squander on one bit of extravagance, those benefits are finite and will end eventually.
In short, I don’t believe you that anyone you know expects to live like they are rich off of government welfare programs. And even if I suspend Occam’s Razor and take you at your word, they are not getting what they desire anyway, so who cares?
But as for the small percentage of abuse in the system - I would rather someone possibly get something they shouldn’t be getting rather than children go to bed hungry.
But they have TVs! And air conditioners! Waaahh!
And they didn’t have to pay moving costs.
However, the railroads normally keep their boxcars closed and locked these days.
So Obama made all the hobos homeless? Nice. What’s he going to do next? Kick them off their healthcare plan?
Don’t want to take a lower paying job. Don’t want to look further afield for work. So what is to be done?

Then factor in that the return on investment for food stamps (SNAP) is far better than any other forms of aid or economic stimulus.
So the statistics bear out that I am not spending much money on those who do not need it, and also that this kind of aid helps the economy far better than any other forms of welfare or even attempts merely to stimulate the economy.
Kind of a win-win. Unless you just hate starving kids.

I will address this because it is a common stupidity. I never claimed to be self-sufficient nor do i hold self-sufficiency as a cherished ideal. If you understood basic economic concepts that I reference, such as how the division of labor is responsible for much of our prosperity, you would understand that. Instead you attack straw men because you lack basic comprehension skills. I attack the government because it undermines a civilized society by resorting to violence that is often arbitrary. I don’t understand how this sentence could be viewed as a critique of free market capitalism, for it embodies capitalism in its essence: “Every one of your accomplishments is built on the back of someone else’s achievements, effort, and innovation.” You wouldn’t understand that because you think building pyramids increased the standard of living, therefore you don’t understand capitalism and you likely lost the common sense God gave you in university.

Every act of government is not an act of violence. Government (ostensibly) represents the ‘we’ in 'We the People", the Sovereign. If you succeed in destroying the government, you will be disempowering a lot of us. And that’s what libertarians want, no? After all, it is ‘we the people’ that stands between the would-be aristocrats and the power to lord it over all of us- civilization!

All I can think is that this is some insane form of Victim Identity Politics. Government is inherently violence because they do not consent to every single act thereof.
If this is the way this kind of person thinks, then the entire Universe is inherently committing violence against them by the fact that it rolls along doing all sorts of things without their consent. In fact, their entire existence must be terrifyingly frustrating, as their only choice is to consent to what happens to them by choosing to live, or to choose not to consent by committing suicide, and thus, ending their own existence.
But like pretty much every ideology on Earth, if only X would happen (where X is something completely at odds with reality and Human Nature), then the world would be perfect. In this case, X is their delusion that they should have the right of assent to everything that could ever happen to them, and that Government should be able to take no action vis the individual without that individual’s consent. Young men (and a few women) went to war in WWII to defend their country and, oh yes, get some meager pay. While soldiers do sometimes have to go without food they do not do so voluntarily, and the military would actively discourage soldiers going without food when food can be obtained.
