Republicans, conservatives, & libertarians, whom would you lik as next Democratic US President?

Inspired by the thread,“Democrats and Liberals, Who Do You Want to be the Next Republican President?”

Let’s say that next year, a series of random unfortunate events leave Obama, Biden, & Mrs Clinton all dead or incapacitated. A mourning nation rallies behind the Democratic nominee for 2012, leaving the GOP with no chance to retake the White House.

So, all you Republicans, conservatives, libertarians, independents, Tea Partiers, whatever labels I’ve forgotten:

What Democrat do you cross party lines to vote for, or hope wins if that’s not an option for you?

“like.” I meant “like.”

I would vote for Phil Bredesen over any of the leading pubs.

I like Evan Bayh on the issues, though I find him a douche.

Bob Kerrey, if he counts.

Thomas Jefferson or Harry Truman. Unfortunately, they’re both dead.

Crap- when I read the title I thought- “Hillary Clinton”.

OK- I’m treating this as a counter-factual game~

My answer is Bill Clinton.
My defense- the multiple tragedies leave the nation shocked & heartbroken so they search for a leader who can get things done. Presidential term-limits are rescinded from the Constitution to enable Bill Clinton to run. Even with MonicaGate, he balanced the budget, reformed welfare & had a generally successful eight years. Now footloose & fancy-free & able to carouse with hotties openly & at will, think of what he could accomplish!

But the voters also would realize, he would need a counter-balance, like Gingrich.

Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana (and Hanover College alum- WOOT!) is Speaker of the House.

Bonus- Clinton gets the endorsement of Rush Limbaugh. Rush realizes that he was at his peak as Clinton’s media thorn in the flesh & wants to repeat those glory days.

My Constitutionally-permitted answer~

Evan Bayh’s not bad at all.

Joe Lieberman (he’s Independent but still a de facto Democrat).

Joe won’t be able to win a run for dogcatcher come 2012.

Someone whose voting record shows they possess competence and ethics, who is a strong proponent of individual rights. Anyone that voted in favour of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban or the War in Iraq is right out.

Curtis, when I saw you had replied, I guessed you’d pick Lieberman.

Whom does that leave? I honestly don’t know.

Other choices I find interesting: Hillary/Bill Clinton, Harry Truman. Would you still want these choices if they had Democratic Congresses as well?

Lyndon LaRouche. Or Dennis Kucinich. Just for the laughs.

Constitutionally Jimmy Carter is eligible. If we’re going to let a Democrat run this country completely into the ground let someone with experience doing that handle the job.

He is also 86 years old, so it’s important to decide, who would you want for his veep?

Bill Richardson

Jim Doyle of Wisconsin. Like I insinuated, if we’re going to run this country completely into the ground, why fuck around? Take a shit or get off the pot, huh?
