There’s only one regular poster I can think of who might be a communist, and even then I’m not sure. The last time I saw a thread about communism it had the usual tired anti-communist rhetorc. Not a lot of discussion of socialist principles, socialist history, or socialist figures either, and when it happens it’s treated like a curious foreign concept, maybe something college kids are into. There’s a lot of apologia for capitalism and American imperialism. Anarchism here is often conflated with right-libertarianism. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this board largely supported Clinton over Sanders. I still see dismissive references to “Bernie bros.”
The board does largely support UHC, so it’s at least as left as Otto von Bismarck.
Calling all Mexicans wetbacks is incorrect usage of the term. The term is applied correctly to anyone who swims the Rio Grande and illegally enters the USA, regardless of country of origin, and as such is not an ethnic slur. Only people who look for things to be offended about think it is one.

What I don’t get is why this matters, when the effect is essentially the same. Whether it’s a troll who posts something incredibly stupid and incendiary to rile people up, or someone who actually believes the incredibly stupid and incendiary statement and believes that it’s a reasonable tack for the discussion, not only can we not tell the difference, but the effect is the same. The thread is derailed into discussion of how stupid the stupid comment was, regardless of intent. Why should it matter whether or not he’s actually that stupid? And even so, why give him the benefit of the doubt? He’s obviously a fucking terrible person either way.
