The whole exercise was about signaling to “their people” what they stood for: that to be a good American you are to (a) completely assimilate in expression, style and “values” to “traditional American” ways, except perhaps for some cuisine, to the point you become indistinguishable from a White-Anglo citizen and (b) until then, or else forever if that indistinguishability is impossible visually by skin color or aurally by the grammar of your name, then accept that you may get equal economic and labor rights but you will just never hold and exert power to guide in which direction the values of society will move, that is only reserved for the “traditional Americans” who are the heirs of the Founders.
In all grammatical fairness, people who are not citizens of a country are alien to that country.

Wasn’t that damn quick! Didn’t just teeter and collapse, downright crushed. Even the Bland American Bund couldn’t choke it down!
Anyone who cares about serious issues has left the Republican party. The Democrats will deliver on all of those issues. So if you’re a voter who cares about something like the economy, national security, good law enforcement, the environment, education, equal rights, public welfare, fiscal responsibility, health care, crisis management, foreign relations, or the infrastructure, you’re voting Democratic.
The only issue that the Democrats aren’t delivering on is bigotry. So if you’re somebody who thinks somebody else needs to be held down, you’re voting Republican.
Apparently that wasn’t too high a percentage of them.
I feel it was. If there really was a majority of people in this country who supported bigotry, the Republicans wouldn’t need to suppress voting.
It wasn’t that her plan was too racist for Republicans, but that it was too obviously racist. She has yet to learn the Republican (im)plausible deniability trick. Even if no one buys it, as long as they have a strand to hold on to. She’ll get there. Maybe she needs a mentor.
But there aren’t people like that. That is not who the Fascist Caucus is running against. No one wants anarchy.
I figure that some folks want open borders, and say so; and that some folks want open borders, and don’t say so, but instead limit themselves to talking about decriminalizing border crossings, and maybe providing amnesty to anyone who’s been here for a while, and so on, and so on; and that some, who don’t especially want open borders, want to decriminalize border crossings or grant amnesty, and say so — but could, before long, be persuaded to give more and more to the first two types; and that some want to decriminalize border crossings and grant amnesty, but (a) won’t explicitly say so, and (b) could be persuaded into going even further; and that some folks don’t especially want to decriminalize border crossings or grant amnesty, but aren’t too far off from okaying all of it and maybe more; and some of ‘em wouldn’t budge into getting it wrong.
I’d of course be in no hurry to vote for the first type or the second; but the second type tries to sound a lot like the third, and the fourth a lot like the fifth.

I think one of the most immediate and glaring flaws in your theory is that Democrats have a pretty long history, at this point, of electing Presidents who curry favor with the left wing of their party, and then tack to the center when in office.
Ignoring for the moment that your bogeyman is only as legitimate as the “Biden and Harris are Socialists” line that was bandied about so frequently in the last election.
ETA: and add my name to the list of those who have already suggested that it seems awfully weird to take so many bites out of an unassuming, unprepossessing, and unabashed shit sandwich and repeatedly note how tasty the bread is*.
