My post that got modded:
"Which brings up the question: can AI fabricate false stories like this? I don’t think this account (the lifeboat) is true but it does seem very specific.
ETA: and why post shit like this if it isn’t true?"
Puzzlegal note:
“Please attack the post, not the poster. This response is completely inappropriate in IMHO.”
I’m not sure who she thought I was attacking but it should have been clear I was attacking the Youtube poster. Anyway, I’m sure it was an honest mistake, but I don’t want any bad marks against me. Is it possible to remove this mod note?
Yeah, a mod note is no big deal. Think of it as a cop letting you off with a warning instead of giving you a speeding ticket. It’s just a friendly reminder, nothing more. It doesn’t get put on your permanent record.
3 flags on this post already and probably more coming in.
This thread is not about you, don’t try to make it about you. Just don’t post in this thread any further.
Stay on topic, you were just thread banned for making a thread about you. Apparently it should have been a warning.
Please no one reply to @Beckdawrek in this thread.
There is a chance that @engineer_comp_geek might change this moderation, it could be worse or he could rescind my note. But until you hear from him, do not hijack this or any other thread please.
It was a misunderstanding. Your post was very unclear to me, and appeared to be hostile and directed towards other posters.
As others have said, there is no permanent record of mod notes, beyond searching for “moderating” and your name, i guess. But yes, given your clarification, the mod note wasn’t warranted.
I have been contemplating the weirdness about all this. And in more than one way.
(I was the member that Lucas_Jackson replied to alleged regarding thread sh****g.)
I reported it to the mod puzzlegal. The exchange that followed was incredibly baffling. I don’t think I’m allowed to post such an exchange without permission. E.g., puzzlegal repeatedly failed to understand who posted what.
I would like to think that a more senior mod would be able to review that exchange as it concerns me quite a bit.
The “explanation” as to what Lucas_Jackson meant also baffles and concerns me, as well as the posts who don’t see the obvious problems.
The word “thread” was used. To claim that YouTube itself is the “thread” doesn’t make any sense to me.
The “explanation” also suggests the Lucas_Jackson doesn’t know why people post videos with fake information on YouTube. Which would be an incredibly naïve stance.
I am not remotely satisfied by this explanation. I think the mod note should stand.
I don’t understand your complaint. He didn’t mention a thread in his post that you are concerned about. The only mention of the word was the older post when he said he was bumping the thread.
Lucas_Jackson’s response about “posting shit” was clearly not about your post; he was agreeing with you.
The only possible confusion would be if he was complaining about the person who posted the link to the BS video on the thread. Given that that person was him, I feel confident in his assertion that it wasn’t his intent.
I wonder if you’re misremembering. Here’s the exchange:
To paraphrase:
Lucas: Here’s a video someone posted!
FTG: That looks like maybe an AI video.
Lucas: Can AIs make false stories like this? Also, why would someone post a shitty false video?
I think you read the final sentence as, “You’re wrong that it’s an AI video. Why would you post some obviously untrue shit like that?” But I don’t think that’s a clear reading, given Lucas’s calling the video a “false story.”
