Resolved: JJ Abrams is evil

At the end of the episode, when Sydney and Vaughn were driving along, I half expected to see a redo of the ending scene of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” , where James Bond’s new wife is assassinated right before his eyes with a bullet to her brain (only with Vaughn taking the bullet, not Sydney, of course!) – did any one else think that?

I’d bet dollars to doughnuts (whatever that means) that the “accident” was deliberate.

Nope. I caught this too. Along the same lines, when Sydney was impersonating Irina for a delusional Jack, everyone including Sydney was shocked to learn that Jack had told Irina he was CIA. Sydney even had a scene in the next ep about it. Problem was that Sydney already knew this as far back as the third ep of the series, and there were at least two references to it. And there’s the whole “Sydney’s never been to her father’s apartment” business, despite how again in the first season she tracked him to a bar near his apartment (although I suppose he could’ve moved).

And the grand-daddy of them all is still the retcon that despite seeing Mount Sabacio (sp?) Sydney is still Rimbaldi’s Chosen.

I am so down with this.

That bit about Dixon having been trained at Langley didn’t register as a continuity error. Good catch. Could it be that when he was brought into the real CIA, he was trained in their “official” tactics?

I don’t think so, just because nobody else was, or they never mentioned it. That would have been a good few episodes. Which is another thing - the real CIA would never let “fake” agents just waltz over and be real ones without heavily debriefing them, and then training them in the real CIA’s methods. But you know, TV show, suspension of reality, etc.

So am I! But, I think I’m too young?? :frowning:

I also don’t see how Sydney can be this Chosen One since she climbed that Mount Whatever. I thought that was supposed to end it for her.

Wasn’t there an episode that implied that it was Nadia in that Rambaldi drawing, not Sydney? I almost remember that one one season-ending episode they showed the drawing - clearly Jennifer Garner - and the next-season opener they showed it again and it looked way more like Nadia. I might be imagining this though.

Most of the speculation was that The Prophecy really referred to Irina and not Syd, or at least that part of it.

Then again, they’ve done such a piss-poor job of retconning stuff that maybe it’s not a bad thing that season 5 is likely the last season.

Nadia is “The Passenger.” I forget exactly what that’s supposed to mean, other than that there’s some “Rimbaldi fluid” that Sloane brewed and then shot her up with to unleash a torrent of prophecy. And she and “The Chosen” are supposed to clash and one is supposed to die. With Nadia zombified I have a feeling they may have Sydney “kill her to save her” and thus fulfil that prophecy. I like some of the Rimbaldi stuff, really I do, but the reators really need to keep it clear.
