Restaurant rec's for lawyers and their clients

So, my sister the lawyer will be in Chicago on business at the end of September. I’m looking for recommendations for dinner for her, a co-worker or two, and clients. They’re staying at Swiss Hotel. I have places I’d go just the two of us, but for clients, well, maybe something with a little more bling? Suggestions?

I believe there is a Palm within the Swissotel. There’s also a Morton’s right down the street. Lawyers go for red meat, don’t they?

Rare, bloody red meat, AIUI.

Naha, Sepia or Spiaggia are all top-notch, fine dining Chicago restaurants reasonably close to the Swissotel. FWIW, Spiaggia’s chef is Tony Montuano of recent Top Chef Masters fame.

If you decide to go the Lawyers = Steakhouse route, I personally think Gibson’s is better than Morton’s.

Ah, Spaiggia! I was trying to remember the name of that place. Couldn’t get further than "Mag Mile, sounds like spaghetti… " :smack:

Dammit. I don’t know if anyone cares but my links don’t work so here they are done correctly. (Damn iPhone)
Naha
Sepia
Spiaggia
and
Gibson’s

By late September we may be past outdoor dining season, but if not I recommend something in the vicinity of Bellevue and Rush - many good to excellent restaurants with outdoor seating. Lively street scene, very European feel, gelato from an outdoor stand, people working on laptops in the park, etc. I just had an excellent club sandwich at Lux Bar, 18 E. Bellevue; Gibson’s is nearby, also Tavern on Rush. The guy at the table next to us was doing some kind of product demo on an iPad, several elegant couples across the way (I brought down the average). Definitely worth a stroll and stopping for a drink if nothing else.

I read that second to last sentence as saying, “something with a little more billing” ! Ha!

Sounds like there will be 8 or more people involved.

If anyone wants to do a cab ride, they can eat at perhaps the best Thai restaurant in the US. http://www.arunsthai.com/aruns.html

When I did coin shows in Chicago, from 1978-1993, we always ate there, party of 10-12. Called at 5PM for a table at 8PM. No problem. My understanding is that you have to call now weeks(months?) in advance. It is quite simply the best Thai in the US. My coin buddy and I have eaten in probably 100 different Thai restaurants. He would agree.
