Restaurants/bars/clubs on TV shows

They spent most of their time in The Crab Shack.

The Tropicana Night Club, later renamed the Club Babalu after Ricky bought it, on I Love Lucy

Coach: The Touchdown Club.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch: Bean There, Brewed That; a coffee shop later known as Hilda’s Coffee House.

That was by far one of the best examples of successful product placement in modern sitcoms. Rather than a fictional place.

I still have friends and relatives from the UK who eat multiple times in the Cheesecake Factory wherever they see it. Standing in the manufactured “look as if its successful” line to eat there. Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, Denver, Seattle, San Jose. Walking past highly rated restaurants and diners just to go to it.

I point out that it is purely because Penny and Bernadette worked there in the Big Bang Theory, that they continually hunt down this mediocre and common chain restaurant. But they stare blankly at me as if their brain has short circuited…

Some even more bizarre people from the UK seek out a Denny’s as if its something special and unique. I suspect they watched Married with Children back in the day.

Rizzoli & Isles - The Dirty Robber

But Frasier’s dad always did his imbibing at Duke’s.

Psych always had great shop names, although they were generally just one-offs. I recall:

  • a coffee shop called Javva the Cupp
  • a coffee shop called Latte Dah
  • a Russian nightclub called Putin on the Ritz
  • a haberdashery called Bling Crosby
  • a mini golf course called King Putt
  • a tanning salon called Yucatan
  • a food truck called Meat and Mrs. Jones

Yep, in the rebooted Magnum PI, Rick still runs the King Kamehameha Club.

Aside from the title place in Bob’s Burgers there is also:

Jimmy Pesto’s Pizzeria
Big Bob’s Diner
Pie in the Sky
Patricia’s 77 Sandwiches
Dusty’s Feedbag
Tiramisu Warehouse
Reggie’s Deli

Also from The Simpsons:

Krusty Burgers

Lard Lad Donuts

The Frying Dutchman Seafood restaurant. It’s the restaurant Homer sued for their refusal to honor the “all you can eat” buffet.

The Happy Sumo Japanese restaurant where Homer almost gets poisoned by blowfish.

Luigi’s Italian.

In the old TV show Crime Story, Lt. Torello and his fellow cops did their drinking at The Orbit Room. The exteriors were shot not far from where I live, on Broadway in Lakeview. Alas, it was torn down not long after the series ended.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force had The Super Trivia Bar.

Never got the name of Roman’s watering hole in The Magic Christian.

Nor the name of this fine establishment from Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia

The Birdcage in Harvey Birdman.

Bar Vitelli in Godfather II.

Didn’t get the bar name in Team America: World Police. (warning: if you’re puke-phobic, don’t watch)

Johnny Nucleo’s Top of the Reactor Restaurant in this fine Towering Inferno adaptation.

Sam the Lion’s Bar in The Last Picture Show.

Prince Restaurant in Chinatown.

Dorcia Bar in American Psycho.

Citizen Cane - El Rancho Bar

The Tenant had The Aux Bon Amis Bar and the Café de la Cigale. Both closed and then renovated and reopened much later.

Greely’s in Unforgiven.

Korova Milk Bar in Clockwork Orange.

The Hip Joint in Futurama.

Lost Lady Saloon in The Outlaw Josey Wales

Casablanca - Rick’s American Cafe.

Trees Lounge.

It was also briefly Flaming Moe’s.

Club Obi-Wan in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The club/disco in Airplane! (“Pinch me, I’m dreaming!” :o )

I know: Not TV shows. :frowning:

Freddy’s BBQ Joint in House of Cards

Oh.
Right.
Oops.

The Blue Whale on* Dark Shadows*

For those who don’t know, this was a real place in NYC (I guess the thread doesn’t specify fictional places)

Babylon and Woody’s on the USA Queer as Folk.
