I have a Sony shortwave travel radio (ICF-SW100E), and reading the manual last night, I found that the Italian version of the radio has a much smaller range of wavebands than the rest of the world, in the LW and FM frequency ranges. Further research reveals:
Anyone know the reason for these regulations? Would I be in trouble if I brought my full waveband version into Italy? Is this just a silly legacy law and if so, legacy of what?
Well, the 109-136 Mhz band is civil aviation. Don’t know what is in the other bands - there are international agreements allocating radio frequencies - I’m too lazy to google, but you might give it a shot.
