The mass on Righty was nothing. Benign, and all gone.
The lymph nodes are clear. That’s VERY good news.
Of the two areas on Lefty, the one they thought was pre-cancerous was actually becoming cancerous…but it’s all gone. They didn’t quite get all the clear margins on the second one that they wanted to, but they’re almost there. One more surgery (scheduled for next Thursday, Lumpectomy Lite) and I should be set. They may or may not input a chemo port at that time.
No, radiation is a must. Research has found the survival rates are much better with lumpectomy + radiation vs lumpectomy alone. The iffy thing is the chemo…whether or not I will need that. I would go through chemo first, then the radiation.
As I mentioned in the other thread, I’ve had very minimal pain. I wouldn’t even call it pain…a twinge here and there, some achiness, but that’s it. I took the last pain pill before bed last night.
So today, I mentioned to my surgeon that either he was very skilled or that I got on top of the pills and stayed there because I haven’t had any pain. He sort of looked down and squirmed, then looked up and pointed at me and said, “I think most of it has to do with you…some people just deal with pain better or heal better.”
