For some reason, none of the functions like emoticons, fonts, link, quotes, etc. are working for me. Using a PC and Chrome. What gives?
For the record, both HTTP and HTTPS are not working. At first I thought it was my Internet connection (which is set up weird at the moment), but other site seem to work fine.
Again, for the main site, not the message board. The board works fine as long as I stay away from the HTTPS version.
We have the ability to suppress threads we don’t think are suitable for the home page. We didn’t think the prostate cancer thread fell into that category. On the contrary, it’s a sober and illuminating discussion of a serious issue. It’s the kind of thing that makes us glad we’re in this business and we’re happy to feature it on our home page.
Fair enough. It threw me off because I’m used to the more amusing threads in Threadspotting (which I know is still there down the page). But I can see the appeal of these too. Thanks for the response.
See this thread. Everything was broken again in Firefox for me again all day yesterday. Working again now.
would this newly launched revamped straight dope (which I find less than appealing) have anything to do with me having problems logging in and staying logged in from my phone this week?
I’ve had to “retry” to connect a couple of times on my laptop.
Still not.
So, will the links in the emails about subscribed threads now have the https urls?
Indeed. I just inadvertently resuscitated a zombie myself.
As mentioned in the https thread, if I use the “Show first new post” button, I am taken to the http version of the board.
Quoting these to find out if this has been addressed. Will there be a way to search the archives for past columns?
Actually, I just noticed there’s a Google search bar on the main page. That’ll suffice.
