revelation

It’s generally held that politicians are lying cheating money-hungry scumbags. And they’re chosen from among the people, right? Does that mean that we are, on average, lying cheating money-hungry scumbags? Or just that only lying cheating money-hungry scumbags actually run for office?

Whatever the outcome I think we need a new system… remember those planets on Star Trek that were having a centuries-old virtual war, using computers to simulate hostilities and calculate damage and simply executing huge numbers of their own populations to save totally wiping themselves out? That was pretty cool.
Smartypants Kirk went and spoiled it all but things were starting to get quite amusing for a minute there. I propose something similar for our leaders. Simulated nerfball assassinations, maybe - three strikes and you’re out. It’d certainly encourage people to participate in the democratic process. And didn’t the Romans have a Saturnalia festival where they made all the morons into the leaders for a day? Did we somehow get stuck in moron mode? Huh? Huh? Huh?
