Here you go Desire Luzinda, Just in case that first helping of victimization at the hands of a callous douchebag wasn’t quite enough for you, have an extra helping from another callous douchebag.
From the link:
To minister Simon Lokodo: I put it to you, good sir, that your priorities and perspectives are perhaps a *tad *fucked up.
PS.
I have a bet going with myself as to whether a certain opinion will be voiced within the first 10 responses (assuming this piece of RO gets even that many).
I haven’t set any stakes, though. It’s just a sort of Finn and Jack bet, except that if I *win *I will be really disappointed.
Alright, I am on board for pitting both the scummy boyfriend and the “ethics” minister. But I was a little confused by your link. It is very lacking in details. Specifically, why she was supposed to be arrested. Was she accused of breaking the law in trying to get back at the ex, or get the photos removed?
After a search, I found:
That makes it much worse. He has directed she be arrested, investigated, and “isolated” for breaking the anti-pornography law.
If I am reading the articles correctly, the ethics minister is disputing that the photos were released against her will. I have no idea if that is true or not. It could well be like those cases where women who are raped are punished for adultery.
Or perhaps that it is against the law to pose for such photos in Uganda even in private. Which is hardly less stupid.
A bit of Googling later, it appears that Ms. Desire is cheesed off at her former boyfriend for refusing to bail her out after she was arrested for a debt. He allegedly refused because she was cheating on him with another guy, who did bail her out. So she dissed him in public and he released the photos to shame her.
He is still a scumbucket, but again it highlights the disadvantages of having poor judgment in who you pose for.
Strassia, the accompanying video report explains that Uganda has anti-pornography laws, and as **Shodan **has fairly pointed out, in the video I linked to, the Minister for Ethics seems to be claiming that he wants to bring her in to establish how the pictures got leaked.
However, the article you linked to makes it clear that the minister has already decided that she is at fault, which is really scummy.
They need a government official to be in charge of ethics?
Not that visiting Uganda had even made it to my bucket list, but if it hadn’t already been off for the “kill the gays” law, that would certainly have done enough to drop it off. Ugh.
Simon Lokodo is a first class piece of shit. Stephen Fry did a three part documentary about homophobia around the world called “Out There,” and Lokodo was one of his interview subjects. You can find it all on YouTube. I recommend it highly.
I don’t think prudishness was Amin’s issue. He was simply insane. If you want to argue that the current contretemps is just another symptom of the general insanity of Uganda, feel free to proceed.
