A supervillain forms a secretive, sinister conspiracy with the most powerful men in the world. With them he plots the downfall of civilization from his hidden base and establishes a “shadow society” which will emerge from the ashes and take control of the world.
It’s not 2012 because government leaders would not be described as super-villains. Soulless bureaucrats, most likely.
It’s not Matrix Reloaded or Revolutions because even though Neo could be construed as a supervillain and the survivors in Zion are the most powerful men in the world (versus the weak people still in pods), it doesn’t fit that Neo forms the conspiracy. He is taken up into it in the first movie and is still coming to terms with his destiny in the later.
Deep impact? The most powerful man would be President Freeman, who does plan the aforementioned shadow society, but I’m not sure if Tea leoni would count as supervillainesque…
Yes! The movie doesn’t come out until next year, but I thought the story would be pretty recognizable and went with it anyway. Apologies to all if it was misleading.
Sorry, really - I thought it would be a much easier one than it turned out to be. I started to put that it was from a famous book and yet unreleased movie, but thought that would be a dead giveaway. I was going to post it anyway but Tom Scud got it first.
