I had a vasectomy back in February…now through a series of un-important events I want to have another child…any advice on what the best place is to look for information? Does anybody have any experience with vasectomy reversal vs. artificial insemination? Looking for cost and success rate etc…any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
I would have to think that your best source of information would be the doctor who performed your vasectomy. Assuming you didn’t get it done for free in an alley.
Seriously, call him up and I’m sure he knows all about reversal rates, etc.
A few years ago when I lived in Austin, TX, there were billboard signs all over the highways to Houston, TX (I-10 and I-290) about Vasectomy Reversal. Two weeks ago, I was in Las Vegas, NV and saw the SAME sign, also directing me to call a number in Houston, TX. Apparently people in Houston must have a lot of second thoughts about vasectomies. I’m sure if you find a phone book for Houston, you’ll see all kinds of ads for it, but I don’t know if it’s worth the trip…
As a Texan, I was surprised to realize that I didn’t have the ubiquitous “Microsurgical Vasectomy Reversal” billboards memorized. Fortunately, there’s a picture of one, with a phone number you can call, on this page: http://www.vasectomyreversal.com/
I have changed the title of this thread from Help out a doper to Reversing a vasectomy. In the future please try to choose descriptive thread titles.

My dad had a vasectomy reversal in 1983 so Mom could have another child (me). At the time, it was a relatively experimental procedure, and their doctor was one of few in the world who could perform it. I’m sure it’s much easier (and probably cheaper) now.
As for that particular “Microsurgical Vasectomy Reversal” billboard, I saw one on Interstate 75 in south Georgia. What’s the point of advertising on frickin’ interstate billboards? Was I supposed to turn around to north Florida, hop on I-10 and drive to Houston after that?
