Revolution - Season Thread

HA! I just KNEW that Nate kid was the captain’s son!

Where’d they film that steam train segment? Another amusement park? A well-known backlot like Universal, in Florida? It looked vaguely familiar but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe it was featured in another western movie, the “main street” set, the railroad tracks with authentic steam engine.

And WHEN is Uncle Miles going to spill the beans about Rachel still being alive? Surely he knows she’s in Philadelphia.

They telegraphed it well that the milita guy was his son; I like how they did that.

Didn’t hate this episode, though I was a little surprised that the demolitions chick also carried Cure Serious Wounds potions.

Saw the first episode last night and have to agree with the general consensus - pretty awful. Seeing the reactions to the later episodes means I probably won’t bother with any more, even though I’m a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction.

The things that grated with me most (aside from the acting and writing in general)

  • the magic amulet maguffins;
  • two characters prancing around with ridiculously elaborate bows/crossbows;
  • drippy’s uncle being a superpowered badass with a sword and taking out a whole squad of militia guys.

Unless there are some major improvements I won’t bother watching anymore.

If you’re talking about the backwards-looking compound crossbow, it’s a real product. Calling it “ridiculously elaborate” is like objecting to someone owning a store-bought fishing rod.

Charlie not listening seems to be the theme.

And since you are the shows last viewer, keep us apprised, OK?:stuck_out_tongue:

I’m planning to watch it online tomorrow. I don’t know why.

I’m guessing the torture involved a very vigorous tooth cleaning and dental checkup.

I’ve enjoyed it so far. It does irk me that it is scheduled as the same time as “Castle” but seeing how Castle is probably on it’s last season or two, if Revolution catches on, it won’t conflict for too long I guess. I usually have to pick one or the other to watch online, and I think it’s kind of telling that I usually choose to watch Revolution as it airs and I catch Castle later.

Yep as dumb as the plot and characters are, at least things happen at a fairly rapid pace on Revolution. I think that’s what keeps me watching.

Woot! (literally) they have steam engines. Still guessing the producers don’t know diesels do not need eletricity (you could fashion some sort of spring starter)

Miles seems to know Tom (the captain guy played by Giancarlo Esposito) pretty well – are we meant to believe that he didn’t know the militia guy he had captured was Tom’s son? There was a scene where Miles offered him as a trade for the brother – I think Tom knew who he was talking about, which makes the “you can kill him if you want” all the more chillier in retrospect. But did Miles know?

How long has Miles been out of the militia – was that ever revealed?

I really liked this show… but man, the last couple of episodes. Yeesh.

Is anyone still hanging on to this show besides me. I’m finding it harder and harder to watch, but I keep hoping the writers will redeem themselves. Last night’s episode is on Tivo, and I’m seriously considering whether its worth my time when I get home from work.

:dubious:

I rather liked last night’s episode. Got a little more into the politics of the militia and learned a little more about “latin chick”. It’s a show right on the border for me, but last night was good.

The last 30 seconds had something interesting.

With no bridges or boats on that river there must be zero economic activity occurring in that territory.
The militia only exists to push people around and enjoy murdering.
I think by the end of the season they will all be issued black top hats and capes and ordered to grow mustaches they can twirl while practicing their maniacal laughs.

I thought last night’s show was awful. It has finally convinced me to delete this from my DVR schedule.

It’s just so stupid. Bullets flying at our heroes every few minutes, but no one ever gets hit? All they have to do is run about 30 yards away from their captors and apparently the bad guys give up the chase and go home? I could go on an on about the nonsensical things that happen throughout every episode. Remember when Charlie had to dress up in the sexy dress to get past the guards to get close enough to kill that one guy? And yet Miles somehow gets into that very same room without anyone noticing?

The acting is bad, the writing is much, much worse. I’m done.

That is a deadly combination for a TV show. I still haven’t watched so much as 5 minutes of this show, just keeping an eye on this thread to help me decide.

Unless my girlfriend is still watching it at makes a hell of a case for it, it’s looking more and more like this one is time well saved.

Just watching last nights episode. So basically the heroes can run circles around militia any time they want. They get chased off by automatic rifles and there were soldiers all over the bridge but when they come back to rescue bra lady’s sister all it takes is a couple sticks of dynamite and they immediately rescue the her and run off. That was easy.

And really, they could only cross the river at bridges? Boats would be shot on sight, does that mean every acre of river for 100 miles is patrolled?

Last episode they invaded an entire ship of soldiers, they were in and out in 5 minutes and only fought 8 or 10 soldiers on the deck. I don’t think it ever did show how they got to and from the ship.

More flashbacks…anger rising…

What’s been bugging the hell out of me from the beginning is the goddamned necklace. Dude - it’s a NECKlace. Put it around your fucking NECK already. Like a passport - hidden under your shirt and secured by your NECK, where it won’t, you know, fall out of anything. And where you won’t, you know, fucking drop it. And maybe, just maybe, if you wear the thing around your NECK, as if it was actually a NECKlace, and under your shirt where no one can see - maybe no one would know you have it.

There are plenty of other ways they could have written it so that the necklace gets discovered and ends up in the same story line parameters, without the geek having to be that much of a dumbass.

Aaargh!

You know the show has run off the rails when the big news about next weeks episode is:

“Watch Revolution! Now featuring Led Zeppelin tunes!!”

It is very unfortunate that they chose this show to break from their tradition of denying use.
