Reward for Info on Missing Soldiers: Bad Idea?

So as I was eating my breakfast I noticed on CNN that we are now offering $200,000 for information leading to the return of the captured soldiers or informatin on the captors. While I wouuld like nothing more for the safe return of the missing soldiers, my first thought on this was that the captors themselves might just leave the soldiers somewhere tied up, call up with the info, collect the reward and continue funding their insurgency withthhe money. Of course, it wouldn’t be easy as all that, I suppose, but it seems to me that you are possibly encouraging more of this behavior. Am I being too analytical/cynical about this?

Welll, it’s worth a try, I suppose, though I imagine that having Ed McMahon show up in Mahmoudiya with an oversized check would be basically a death sentence for some poor schmuck.
