I’ve got a terrific head cold brewing here, and it’s arrived like a highballing train. 14 hours ago I felt fine, ready to take on the world. Now, I’m shivering, got a head full of snot (sorry to be gross, but what my own sinuses are producing is pretty bad, and how much snot can one head hold/produce anyway?), my throat’s lined with razorblades, coworkers spent today telling me I looked like I was at least three-quarters disconnected with reality, and I’m having some weirdo visual disturbance (I’m putting that down to the insomnia I’ve been putting up with for the past week rather than the cold). I can’t take over the counter medications because I’ve never found one that didn’t make me feel either nauseous or stoned. I’m not fond of either.
Add to that, my Achilles tendon feels like a dog’s been chewing on it.
Gaaah, I’m going to try and get some sleep soon, although that’s going to be difficult because I can’t breathe properly. Maybe things will look better in the morning.
Feh. I’m in the middle of one as well. It was so bad that I took half a day off of my first job today. So I’m only working, uh, about 11 hours today. Gee, I’m so relaxed now!
I know when I’m really sick because I stay home and watch daytime television. When I start to think “What is this crap I’m watching??!!” then I know the rhinovirus has left.
Sorry you’re not well tavalla old mate. This one is sweeping through my office, but I am so far unscathed. Hope you’re able to take a couple of days of rest and bad TV to look after yourself, and that it’s all cleared up soon.
:cautiously: Um, yes… Should I be worried? Even if I’m not taking the original plop-plop-fizz-fizz alkaseltzer cold plus? The cosy blankets and good books come in handy, that’s for certain.
Redboss, give me Oprah! Even sick, Bert’s just too much. Besides, I haven’t yet taken time off work. Today’s late start was rostered - and very welcome.
I have my Big Plan ready to put into action. I know where I caught this cold. I know who gave it to me. I’m going to hang on to it long enough that the little viruses mutate a tad, so the guilty party will no longer have immunity.
Nah, just the alkaseltzer cold plus was pulled from the market because the FDA says that Phenylpropanalomine (the good drug) has been linked to some weird strokes (deaths) in women in our age group. Not just women, and not just our age group, but most of them have been in our group.
