Although I think he would have done a great job, he never stood a realistic change. Part of me is glad he dropped, because now my vote might actually matter.
I especially like how he politely bowed out, not bashing or endorsing any other candidates, and saying that they are all talented and qualified for the position.
He was never running for the top spot anyway, I think. I also get the sense that many people in Albuquerque felt the same. I don’t know about other parts of the state, though a friend about an hour south of Albuquerque didn’t even know he was running until I mentioned he was dropping out. I think that might say something about his visibility. She was aware of other runners, and their platforms and such. She’s not oblivious, she just didn’t know.
I’m a little disappointed. I know he didn’t stand a chance, but, out of the Democratic candidates, I really thought he had the best qualifications and would do the best job. Maybe he’ll get Secretary of State?
The gentleman’s candidate, however, is still in the race. He’s rooting for Mike Gravel of Alaska. He freely admits that Gravel’s supporters are the few, the proud, the insane!
