Rick Jay waits a week to acknowledge/moderate a post?!

You’re not understanding their responses correctly, so no.

You’re not understanding their responses correctly. TubaDiva was responding to someone else, not to you. But if you have an example of someone going from “mod note” to “banned”, let’s see it. Alternatively, don’t bother, because it doesn’t happen.

Little Nemo, I’m starting to think you are have a bit of fun with us. Seriously, you’ve been a member for about 13 years and you’re not familiar with mod notes?

So you’re both saying that any moderator instructions that are not identified as warnings can be ignored without consequence?

Do any moderators agree or disagree with this?

No, I am serious. I expressed what I believe is the reality of this issue in post 13.

Your beliefs have no connection with the reality of the situation, as has already been explained.

Could you educate me then by explaining how I’m wrong?

Do you, for example, agree or disagree with what I wrote in post 44?

You are trying to set the parameters for what constitutes a difference between a note and a warning. A difference that is wrong and irrelevant. Think of it this way:

Poster A gets 3 mod notes in January.
Poster B gets 3 mod warnings in January.

In February both posters get 1 warning.
Nothing happens to poster A.
Poster B stands a very good chance of getting banned or suspended.

That’s the real difference between the two. It’s true that both must be heeded at the time they are given, but their secondary function is the bigger concern to most posters.

No-one has said that, and everyone who’s commented, both as poster and as moderator, has said the complete opposite. Ignoring a mod note is a breach of site rules, and they staff will deal with it appropriately, which could be anything from another note to a ban, but usually an official warning.

Maybe it would be helpful if a Mod would give Little Nemo a fake Warning through the board software so that he could see what’s being talked about, and then revoke that Warning later to get it off his record? Seems that would clear this up immediately.

I, for one, agree or disagree with what you wrote in post 44.

That seems to be the consensus.

Probably not. If you’ve been here 14 years and think there is no real difference, then there’s nothing I can say further that will clear it up for you.

You could give him a warning and say “hey, it’s no different than a mod note, right?”

If the policy is as clear as you’re saying, why can’t you answer a simple question about it?

What problem do you have with the answer that has already been given to you?

Since you still seem to be having trouble:

Official Mod Warning: goes on your official record. If you have a warning on your record, when you go to “User CP”, you’ll see a list of them, with a link to the offending post, the moderator who issued it, the reason given, and an expiration date (which I suspect is always “never”).

Mod Note: absolutely none of that. If you fail to follow the instructions in a mod note, you may receive an Official Warning for failure to follow mod instructions (you can even get a Warning for failure to follow a mod note/instruction given to someone else).

It’s the difference between a cop letting you off with a warning for jaywalking “Hey buddy, use the crosswalk next time” and a cop actually writing you a ticket for jaywalking. One (the ticket) goes on your record, the other is just getting hassled a bit and nothing happens.

However, it does not mean that you get to jaywalk in front of the cop right after you get the warning just because the initial warning didn’t carry a penalty.

Right. If you keep jaywalking in front of the cop eventually he’s going to get tired of telling you to knock if off and will probably start writing tickets.
