The absurdity of this comment is self-evident.
still makes me laugh that obama has been worse then bush but people still seem to bring up bush’s name.the ignorance of america i guess
Sorry to continue the hijack, but…
George W. Bush:
[ul][li]Was the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record (DUI and cocaine possession);[/li][li]Spent the U.S. budget surplus and bankrupted the U.S. Treasury;[/li][li]Created the largest annual national deficit in U.S. history;[/li][li]During his first year, 2 million Americans lost their jobs;[/li][li]Set the record for the most private bankruptcies in any 12 month period in U.S. history;[/li][li]Set the record for most home foreclosures in any 12 month period in U.S. history;[/li][li]Set the record for the biggest drop in the U.S. stock market in the nation’s history;[/li][li]Set the record for the most campaign find-raising trips by a U.S. President;[/li][li]Presided over the highest gas prices in U.S. history;[/li][li]Appointed more convicted criminals to his administration than any President in history;[/li][li]Ignored intelligence reports that repeated over and over that Al Qaeda is going to launch a terrorist attack on the U.S. using hijacked airplanes;[/li][li]Lied and led the U.S. People into two wars and never funded them;[/li][li]Gave tax breaks to the richest people in the country while his unfunded wars were raging;[/li][li]Passed Medicare Part D at a cost to U.S. taxpayers of trillions of dollars a year, and did not fund it;[/li][li]Allowed 47,000 manufacturing plants to close, costing 3 million people their jobs, while paying those corporations over 1 trillion dollars to do it;[/li][li]Allowed Wall Street to destroy the American economy while closing his eyes to the signals that something was wrong;[/li][li]Put a ‘poison pill’ into the U.S. Post Office in an effort to destroy an American icon that has served America for over two centuries.[/ul][/li]Meanwhile under Obama, the economy has improved substantially, the stock market has more than doubled from its low point under Bush, and people are going back to work.
lol, come back to me when you grow a brain and stop lapping up whatever the liberal media tells you
I’m thinking that many interesting points of Texas law will be settled during this case but I believe Dershowitz sums the case up nicely. Should Perry allow a drunk, an angry drunk, access to millions of taxpayers dollars?
Dershowitz also told Newsmax Perry was well within his rights when he vetoed the money for Lehmberg’s office, as he “saw a drunk serving as DA” who “shouldn’t be enforcing criminal law.”
Which of Johnny LA’s statements about George W. Bush were incorrect and/or false?
Obama has his own legal problems with the continued court challenge to his Executive Order attempting to quash the Fast & Furious investigation into Obama’s selling guns to Mexican drug cartels.
Probably the part where he admitted hijacking a “Rick Perry Indicted” thread in the elections forum?
The claim that Bush has a criminal record for cocaine possession is not true.
There is no court record of any such conviction, or even arrest, on such a charge.
Can this please just die.
There is no “liberal” media.
I had no idea this was even a common misconception. Is it a somewhat widely held belief and I just missed it somehow?
Yeah, I wondered about that one. IIRC, it was big deal when he admitted to prior cocaine use, which would be kind of silly if there was a conviction on record for it.
However, the gist of it remains true. Bush was a convicted criminal.*
*Now, I am FAR from a GWB fan, but while it’s sort of interesting in a trivia sort of way, I have a hard time taking a hard line stance that it made him unfit for office. It was a long time ago. It was a minor crime. The record does seem to indicate that he took steps to resolve the issue. There are lots of better reasons to think he was a lousy President.
Are there any GOP governors not under investigation for corruption? Bit early for the party to start imploding before the presidential election, isn’t it?

Thanks,Tom.
And those supporting the indictment have already answered this point.
Surely if (and I realize this is the crux of the issue) the methods Perry used were illegal, the reasons he did it, if good, do not justify his actions?
I agree with this. Using a procedural tool for any type of political motivation is free game and it is dangerous to start calling it a crime. If it is “you contribute to my campaign or I defund your agency” then that is bribery and outside the political process.
Also, I haven’t seen it mentioned, but can’t the Texas legislature override a veto? There is another check in the system that is ignored. If Perry is just being a petty, power-hungry megalomaniac, then there is that tool. That is, unless this prosecutor is claiming that at least 1/3 of a House of the legislature are also felons who are abusing their office.
Dershowitz sums it up nicely.
Was this DA elected? How else could she have been removed from office? It seems that Perry didn’t have any other options. This woman had access to a lot of state funds.
There is a long, long precedent for public officials to step down after a DUI. It’s clearly an abuse of the public trust. Most will resign voluntarily or after political pressure. This DA didn’t even have the class to step away. Let someone else head up the investigations.
Google “official resigns dui” there are pages and pages of people that did the right thing and stepped down.
No, it can’t be proven, there’s no record anymore; that’s what expungement means - IOW the kind of sentence given to rich white boys who need to straighten out but don’t need to be dogged for the rest of their lives by an actual record.
ETA: And Cheney had *two *DUI’s, making him the first VP to enter office as a convicted criminal.
