You gotta figure the Fox news anchors are secretly rooting for Obama so that they can have higher ratings. Because that has to be ratings fuel, right? Pushing the scary idea that a socialist atheist Muslim is killing our country?
Is it possible that they are that full of shit? That they actually deeply desire an Obama win? Cause if that is true, don’t we all sound silly waiting for them to ‘eat crow’ if Obama wins. They will be eating faux crow! And what’s the fun in that?
Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter, all those hard right pundits…they are secretly Obama supporters after all, right?
They follow the money and there’s money to be made in railing against Democrats.
That doesn’t mean they necessarily want, on a personal level, for Obama to win. It just makes their job easier. If Obama loses and Democrats retain control of the Senate, it’s that obstructionist Senate that’s the problem.
If Obama loses and Democrats take control of both Houses, Pelosi becomes enemy #1 and it’s that do-nothing Congress that’s the problem.
Perhaps the most challenging of them all is if Democrats lose control of all three. Now Limbaugh’s going to have to rely on that stupid, Democracy-killing fillibuster as the root of all evil in the Democrat’s arsenal.
Still, it would be easiest to just have Obama as the one we all hate. Much less confusing.
There was an interesting op-ed piece in Newsweek to the effect that Romney supporters are worried that he’ll win because taxes are more likely to go up under a Romney administration than under an Obama administration saddled with an obstructionist Congress.
No, Limbaugh, Hannity, and Coulter all grew (or least maintained) their ratings during the Bush years.
They just find other targets for their shows. (Picking on Pelosi, for example, or on a proposed piece of legislation, like the McCain/Kennedy Immigration Rform Bill.)
Is there any evidence that Fox actually does better when a democrat wins? I’m just spitballing here, but it seems to me that Fox would make out well either way. Either people will watch to work themselves into a frothy outrage, OR they’ll tune in for the next 4 years, secure in their superiority.
These extremists are fear mongers. There will always be things to whip people up in a froth about.
Rush has got to be thinking about retirement anyways. All that money… Any money he makes now is going to be spent by his great-great-great grandchildren.
No, I think that Rush, Hannity, Coulter, and the rest of their right wing ilk really wanted Obama to lose especially in 2012. In 2008, there may have been some feeling of opportunism to "watch librulism fail’ just after the height of the financial crisis and bailout. The right wingers still had plenty of targets for criticism during the Bush administration: Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Anthony Weiner, John McCain, James Carville, the Clintons etc. Historical figures are always favorite targets as well…It’s not unusual for Rush to criticize Jimmy Carter, FDR, and JFK.
On the other hand, gun manufacturers were quietly and vigorously rooting for Obama in both elections. I have no doubt about that.
“Fox News posted an astonishing 50% jump in profit last quarter amid a disastrous advertising recession, and it’s basically the only thing making money in Rupert Murdoch’s empire. Why? Because the GOP has cratered.”
It’s a bit like Jon Stewart hoping for a Trump or Cain presidency - it’s great material, although he personally couldn’t be farther from wishing either of those to be president. But then again, we have seen what John Stewart can do with 4 years of Obama, and there’s plenty of funny to go around. (Please note that I am in no way, shape or form comparing Jon Stewart with O’Reilly or similar - one is a serious journalist posing as a comedian, the other is a comedian posing as a journalist. The comparison is still apt, though, IMHO.)
