Right you lot--what in your PURSE?

To go with the gentlemen’s thread about pockets. whatssinhisspocketsss?

I am carrying a brown leather handbag at present. Inside:
cell phone
4 pens (I tend to walk off with bank pens)
pencil
travel Kleenex
granola bar (?)
wallet
cosmetics travel bag–inside that is one lipstick, one small mirror, 2 Tampax and a panty liner, plus some Natural Tears and a tube of hand lotion.

car lock de-icer
traveling tube of acetaminophen
date book–oops, need new one!

old Hershey Kiss wrapper bits
lint
key ring
ponytail holder
What’s in your purse? (I’m dull, no?)

Colored pens for school tomorrow that I just bought.
My wallet.
Nail file.
Two nail polishes (those and the file are because I just took off my acrylics last night and forgot to take the stuff out of my purse).
False eyelashes.
$20 randomly floating.
a pair of hoop earrings.
and
six lip glosses (I need to empty my purse).

Mine is a black purse which holds:

old bills
wallet
pen
digital camera
my dog’s rabies tag
a smaller case holding perfume, lip gloss, chapstick, and oddly enough a baby pic of me
stamps
checkbook
lotion
a few christmas cards I got from work
spare change strewn across the bottom

There’s actually more odds ‘n’ ends, but I thought I’d spare you.

I have a big (10x12) one-compartment patchwork bag that I love, because it allows me to carry the world and then some in it. It currently contains:

Cell phone
One pocket-size pack of tissues (Kleenex brand - classy, eh?)
Sunglasses (bent a bit - not so classy)
Wallet with too much junk and not enough moolah
Swiss Army Knife
Keyring (keys to home, 2 key fobs [a light-up turtle and a metal bust of Billy Shakespeare)
Pack of Orbit Cinnamon gum (1 piece remaining)
1-day bus pass from Dec. 20
The foam pad from a pair of earbuds
Little fabric bag with two tampons inside
1 tube of Carmex
Moisturizing eyedrops
1 travel-sized pack of Dramamine (2 tablets)
2 pens, 1 pencil
Pocket-sized Moleskine notebook
$2.46 in various coins
Admission button thing from the Philadelphia Art Museum
A paperback of 4 plays by Euripides.

No wonder it seems heavy…

Hah! My purse either has all the lip glosses I own or none at all. It’s really annoying.

Cell phone
Small pouch for money and loose change
Card wallet
Camel No. 9 cigarettes
Stray reciepts
Gum
Stephen King’s The Drawing of the Three
Pen

OK, here goes… deep breath

The Usual Suspects:
Wallet 1 (cash, membership/VIP/frequent flyer cards)
Wallet 2 (credit cards, debit cards, ID & heath cards)
Wallet 3 (beaded monkey coinpurse that holds keys and random change)
Blackberry
Earbuds/mic thingie for Blackberry
Paperback novel
This morning’s free Metro paper
Work passcard/ID
NFLD key chain with VPN token and 2GB flash drive

Random stuff:
Single-serve packet of Coffeemate
Chopsticks (for my hair)
Photos of my kitties
Envelope that last month’s Metropass was mailed in
Corporate Amex statement for last month
Block of small Post-Its with a Blackberry PIN scribbled on the top sheet
$2 coupon for Royal Canin cat food
$25 GC for Michael’s
Petsmart PetPerks card
Sushi menu (saved from a super-amazing sushi place in Montreal, so I could note the address)

I’m actually a little frightened by how much stuff that was… gulp

Stop after the next one and pretend they all died in a fire. You’re welcome.

Black XOXO purse – often commented on as being “the smallest purse I’ve ever seen a woman carry.”

FWIW the purse measures 9x2x4. If it doesn’t fit in my purse, or I cannot zip my purse with it in there, I don’t carry it. In fact, the only reason I have 2 lipsticks in there is that my daughter forgot to carry her purse one day and so shoved the lipstick she was wearing in mine.

Lessee:

Mine is a Dooney & Burke tote. Contents:

Day planner (Luddite here, you’ll pry my paper planner from my cold dead hands)
Electronic Palm organizer (not so much of a Luddite as to copy my address book out by hand)
Wallet
Trade-size paper back book (Martha Grimes’ The Five Bells and Bladebone)
Cellphone
Car keys
Travel sized Kleenex pack
Powder compact
Lipgloss
Burt’s Bees lip balm
Comb
Two ballpoint pens
Yellow highlighter pen
Late Christmas card that I need to take to the post office to mail to France
Small pack of strawberry Twizzlers

Mine’s a denim purse I got at Old Navy iirc that carries… well, quite a bit. It has lots of random pockets in it also, so I constantly surprise myself with what I have in it.

I currently have in the main compartment:
My wallet with the usual assortment of cash, bank cards, bus pass, grocery cards and health care cards.
A copy of The Virgin’s Lover by Philippa Gregory
cell phone
mp3 player
change purse
moleskine
2 pens
the start of a new sock (and it’s finished mate, in it’s own bag)
house keys
mirror compact
toffee’s
bubblegum (two kinds, and it’s odd since I hardly chew any gum)

Assorted pockets:
ticket stub from Sweeney Todd
burt’s bees lip balm
asthma meds inhaler
3 different kinds of hand lotion, small bottles
2 Coffee gift cards
Coupon for 5 bucks off a purchase of books
My bracelet, which fell off this morning so I need to fix tonight.

I ain’t got no stinkin’ purse.

In my backpack: Computer cords, emergency tampon.

In my shoulder bag: Crumpled receipts, microlight.

Both will contain much more when I go to campus later this week: Moleskine workbook, datebook, office keys, phone, thumb drive, lunch, papers.

In my pockets: Keys, small metal frog.

In my wallet: Debit card, two credit cards, driver’s license, health insurance card, receipt for a purchase I don’t recognize, AAA card, university ID, Border’s card, empty Starbucks card, $6 in singles, restaurant receipt from last professional travel. My wallet doesn’t have windows so it’s a bad place for photos.

Yes, I’m working at home today.

ETA:
Wallet: Eddie Bauer post-holiday sale, 2002?
Backpack: Half-price computer bag, REI.
Shoulder bag: Obscure rip-off bought for under $12 in LAX.

When I must have a smaller bag, I use an REI shoulder bag that fits a paperback or a bottle of water. I also have a small brown bag I bought in Italy for ~$30 near the Uffizi.

I downgraded over winter vacation to a small purse. I have: cash, ID, chapstick, keys, cellphone and a pen. I’m just putting around the backwoods I live in until school starts again.

Starting next week I’ll be lugging around my Indiana Jones purse: 3 pens, a No.2 Ticonderoga pencil, hand cream, lip gloss, chapstick, a packet of powdered rice papers (eek, running low!), a few elastic headbands, pepper spray, hair brush, memo book, wallet, keys, notebook, folder for syllabi and bluebooks (I always carry a few extra of the last item), likely a book or two, my cellphone, a laptop, a Kashi bar, a packet of Kleenex, my sunglasses in the case, a deck of cards, and an emergency OB tampon (I’m a DivaCup user, but it’s nice to have backup or provide backup for someone else).

WTH do you use moleskin for? I use it in newer shoes that slide off my heel, but I don’t carry it around.

I forgot to add, last year’s Xmas card that has a pic of the 3 kids on it.

That’s it.

Multitool
tape measure
(and mini screwdrivers & knife on my keychain)
Hairbrush
Motrin
kotex
pen
pencil
calculator
notepad
nail clippers
chapstick
tissues
cellphone

plus the expected stuff (wallet & checkbook)

Oh lord. Now I get to reveal what an amazing slob I am.

I carry an army green, wicker-type purse. In it at this moment is:

A Christmas card, from a friend to my husband and I
Various post-it notes with cryptic scratches on them
A pair of eyeglasses, not in a case
A package of DayQuil
Pirates of the Caribbean; The Complete Visual Guide, pocket-sized
A Horizon Air napkin
An Alaska airlines napkin
A package featuring a “Phone Clean” pre-moistened telephone receiver cleaning towlette
A floor map of the Sunset Station Hotel Casino in Las Vegas
A schedule for the Vegoose music festival in October 2007
A guide to the Vegoose music festival in October 2007
An Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air boarding pass
My husband’s Christmas list
Three Christmas cards I forgot to send before Christmas
A letter from our rental company requesting we schedule a time after the 1st of the year for them to have someone come fix our office heater
A $20.00 Old Navy gift card
Two paycheck stubs
Two power bill receipts
A car payment receipt
Another Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air boarding pass
An invitation to my company’s Christmas party, with raffle tickets
Receipts from Brew Brothers, Made in Oregon and Panda Express
$3.00 cash (woo-hoo, didn’t know that was in there!)
The beginnings of about sixteen short stories, written on notebook paper
EarPlanes
Rose oil
A button
About 7 pennies

Three dollars!!! off to vending machine

Moleskine is a brand of lovely notebooks and journals to write in. I think that’s what they meant, not moleskin so your shoes don’t bug you.

Thank god for that!

And GAH–please, a mod fix my typo in the title. PLEASE. It should read: “What’s” not “what”
:o (stupid smiley doesn’t look embarassed, looks like it’s singing)

That woud be moleskine, not moleskin. They come in handy, I jot down ideas or notes of things I need to pick up (several pages are just devoted to lists… like my NOW lists, and are great to keep pictures of my son that don’t really fit in my wallet.)

In the interest of full disclosure, the strawberry Twizzlers have disappeared from my purse. Disappeared from the planet, actually.

Lots of change (I try to empty it out, lord knows, I try, but it adds up on me!).

Keys for work and keys for home.

Hair clip thingy.

Pen.

Random papers/receipts (not TOO many).

Wallet.

Cell phone.

My MP3 player when I am not listening to it.

Lip gloss–usually one or sometimes two.
