Most of you have probably noticed a ringing sound made
by televisions while they are turning on, or by old apple monitors while the computer is off (but the monitor is on).
Everyone thinks I’m crazy because they can’t hear this.
Some people can, and here’s a startling thing:
They are all of above average intelligence, and are mostly
calm people with personalities similar to mine.
Wierd, huh?
It is the fly back transformer cycling at about 16khz. It will take way to much space to explaine everything. It generates 40kv to draw the electrons to the screen phosphor.
Slight hijack; please forgive me, but it is safety related:
Duke: I am no electrician, but I noted the 40kv mention in your post. Since the regular power line to the monitor is only 110 volts, I would imagine they’re using some kind of device to step the power up. I’ve heard there are some powerful capacitors in monitors, and that one should not open one up casually for fear of being very seriously electrocuted. Is this true, or is it a techno-myth?
Im not a certified electrition I am Only 17. So I can not validate my facts with a degree and or certificates. But yes capacitors hold whatever amout of electricity was last in them there is a why to dispose of this but I am not sure I will find out and post it just so every one can be safe!
A risistor. something that uses electricity! a light bulb or whatever. just put it to the leads of the capacitor. and thats how you remove it!
DougC: Haha, well, at the school that I used to go to when I
heard it, apples were the ONLY computers there (that is, until
immediately after I graduated)
Wikkit: oh, woops, heh
