RIP Charger [My "Sleep Disorder" Was a Brain Tumor]

I’m so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. You’re young and strong, which is definitely in your favor. Please keep us posted on your progress - this is a great place to get support when you need it.

Good wishes Charger. It sounds like you’re in good hands.

If you are not a compulsive hand washer, this is the time to take up this wonderful little ‘hobby’.

Last thing you need right now is to get sick on top of this.

Also, eating super-duper healthy foods and drinks will only help your body fight and keep it strong.

I have finished radiation. Unfortunately, I developed a rash and they weren’t able to tell what caused it. They cut the chemo a week early for fear that it may have caused the allergic reaction. They also cut the zantac and anti-seiaure medication. They ran a blood test, but I haven’t gotten any results. Now that radiation is complete, they are planning to give me a month off, then higher dosages of the chemo for 5 days, then 23 days off and repeated for 6 months.

Another bump in the road. I went to see my surgeon on Wednesday and I had a swollen bump on my right temple. He inserted a syringe and drew out the fluid. I was expecting clear fluid, but what came out looked like mocha latte and was thick and gross. The surgeon desrived it as “some shitty looking stuff.” They did a test on it and it is a staph infection. That means I will have 4 to 6 weeks of IV antibiotics to help clear that up. Also, that meant that, on Thursday, they sent me in for another surgery. This time, they replaced the bone flap with titanium mesh, because the bone was infected. My oncologist was going to give me a month break between phases of chemo anyway, so the timing of this worked out well * even though I’d rather do without another hurdle). So, for the next month, I will be on an IV 30 minutes at a time, every 8 hours. Not fun.

Thank you for the update!

Stay positive!

You’re stronger about this than I would be.

Sending you hope and good thoughts

Nothing is ever easy! :frowning:

Sending more healing thoughts your way.

Keep up the good fight, Charger. We’re pulling for you.

I just saw this.

Best wishes to you!

Good luck to you, Charger.

Hang in there. Hoping for the best for you. Make the most of your time.

In 1986, the 5…7?yo dad of one of my high school friends was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I don’t know what was its technical name, but I do know that the prognosis was “I hope your life insurance is in order” and that after several surgeries and a long treatment the only casualty was my friend’s chance of going to college (she got a degree in law years later, through distance education and while working in the local courthouse, so she still was the first person in her family to get a college degree). He died three years ago of completely-unrelated causes.

I do hope your recovery is better than his was!

Pulling for you, buddy.

Sending best wishes your way. I hope you beat this and there aren’t any more unexpected hurdles.

Sometimes there’s not much to say except EWWWWWWWWW. Sorry for the complications, Charger. I hope things go smoothly from here.

Sorry to hear about your health problems, Charger. I’m just another anonymous lurker here, but I’ll be sending you good wishes and prayers.

Hope the IV therapy does the trick. You don’t need any complications. Hope you have something interesting to do or read during those half hour sessions.

Sending you good wishes.

Good luck–we are pulling for you.

 Charger, you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Good luck.
