My fave Frazetta: Wolfmoon.
RIP to a most exellent artist. May his afterlife be full of beautiful women, feasting and lots of paint.
Cliché alert!
I appreciated his art, I was a big fan of a lot of fantasy art via Heavy Metal magazine amongst others, but strictly speaking can’t count myself as a fan, because I very rapidly got bored with musclebound/bikini space adventurers.
But you can’t take away the impact he had on 70s and 80s Sci Fi and Fantasy pop culture.
One last ride into the sunset, I guess. ![]()
I’m a Monster Kid who grew up on CREEPY, EERIE, VAMPIRELLA and FAMOUS MONSTERS. God bless Frank Franzetta! I’m sure you have better stuff to do- people you’ve loved & lost to reconcile with, but take a moment to say Hi to Uncle Forry.
And evidently his Polar Bears drag the cart forward by force of will alone, since they’re not tethered to it by any visible means.
It’s okay – reins and ropes would’ve ruined the flow.
Hell of a legacy.
His work was very important to me in my younger days, I have all the books and I now own over a dozen medieval swords, spears and knives in no small part because of him.
Rest in peace.
and baseball.
Frank Frazetta’s art helped inspire me to become an artist when I was a little boy, and I know he inspired generations of artists who have followed in his wake. RIP, Frank, and thanks for sharing your art with the world!
Somewhere I have three books of his stuff. This series. Awesome.
