The bro.
I’m always telling my wife: “Don’t blame the mechanism!”
Is that from the same episode? I don’t remember it very well.
He wasn’t supposed to be an angry old man. The character on Seinfeld was supposed to be meek but he realized it wasn’t working.
Just another quote. I don’t remember the particular episode, but he’s trying to tell his wife how to move the car seat, and she’s saying “It doesn’t work!”.
My favorite was when he went after Elaine, You wanna piece of me?!
Who did he say he replaced? I replayed and replayed and all I can get is John rllrlr. Also, his Estelle Harris is spot on!
John Randolph, apparently.
John Randolph.
I got to work with Jerry once. After shooting a few days with Anne Meara a year or two before, I showed up to work on A Fish In The Bathtub.
Anne and I had a lovely chat, she always showed up on fire and ready to work- with her lines down cold. Jerry, as I learned, worked his lines all through the day because he was afraid of going up and wrecking a take. Total opposites in terms of prep for a scene.
He was very good at his craft and very sweet and I’ll never forget the big wedding dance scene we shot. The quiet heartbreaking reunion afterwards between Meara and Stiller had the crew in tears.
Thank you for your gifts, Jerry.
