RIP Lou Reed

Story here. No cause of death yet. So sad.

Oh wow. Wow.

Yeah, me too. :frowning:

Oh fuck. :frowning:

Well fuck. Seriously.

Nooooooo! My gosh, this is a shock. He opened my eyes to so much I wouldn’t have embraced otherwise and yes, the username… it’s for him.

Holy shit.

If I had to guess I’d say the cause of death was heroin.

Reed underwent a liver transplant in April. I doubt they would give a new liver to someone doing heroin.

And your guess is incredibly insensitive.

I didn’t know your username’s origin.

Yeah, he was an irascible bastard, but he opened up a lot of eyes. Rock n roll’s danger coupled with a downtown poet’s sensibility…

He had a liver transplant a few months back due to Hep C complications.

Oh, man.

I sat in front of him in a movie theater once, in Manhattan. One of the Bourne films. He was a very small man, and I tried not to block the screen.

So sad. :frowning: The VU were awesome.

I’m really bummed. I love his music and was supposed to see him at this event on Nov. 5th. http://www.themorgan.org/public/program.asp?id=709

My mom’s a huge fan too, she’s going to be really upset.

Ah fuck.

I can’t say that I know much of Lou Reed’s music, but I’ve never heard anything of his that I dislike. But from what I know about him, modern rock & roll wouldn’t have been the same without his influence on his fellow songwriters.

Let us have 94 moments of screeching chaos in his memory.

Not seeing it on other sites yet. NYTimes, NBC.com

I was surprised to learn he had only been married to Laurie Anderson since 2008.

It’s hard to think of a cooler married couple.

Thank you for demonstrating that you were not a fan of the Velvet Underground.

In Lieu of Reading on another site, just shortened it here having no idea I’d stay on.

Man, I’m seriously bummed. We became huge fans back in HS and college when experimenting with everything, especially music.
