RIP Michael J. Pollard

Michael J. Pollard dies at 80

Sorry, it’s not a foolie. :frowning:

Bonnie and Clyde, The Russians are Coming, one of my favorite actors from the 60s. I first saw him on an episode of Mr. Novak, the NBC drama, and knew I wanted to see him again.

Another clod washed away by the sea.

damn, an underrated [and from all accounts a nice] guy.

I remember him on episodes of, “Lost in Space,” and, “Star Trek.”

Isn’t there some story about him being responsible for the title of a Lou Reed album?

That sad scene in Scrooged.

Traffic, not Lou Reed. The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys.

His Lost in Space episode was one of the best of the series. I know that’s faint praise, but it was a great bit of television for any show.

Fine actor.

He was great in Enter Laughing (Carl Reiner’s autobiographical film.)

I never knew that.

He was also responsible for the “J” in Michael J. Fox, whose real middle name is Andrew.

He was also in the Steve Martin film “Roxanne” as one of the hapless fire crew. A goofy looking guy who carved out an acting niche for himself and made himself memorable.

I most recently saw him in House Of 1000 corpses. His “Little Dick Wick” song he uses to call out one of the robbers was low brow but it made me laugh anyway.

I cannot wrap my brain around the fact that he was 80. He always had such a baby face.

Flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

Miri.

And also from that time period there was the “Honey West” episode “The Princess and the Paupers” in which his character, Jingles, was a member of a rock and roll band.

Obligatory IMDb link. Hasn’t been in anything released in a few years. One gig listed in post-production for a while.

Geez, you guys. Almost all my favorite things with Pollard have been mentioned already. Bonnie and Clyde, Roxanne, The Russians are Coming2*, etc. That last one shows how remarkable he was. A tiny role as the guy at the airport. But really memorable. The snot alone …

One not mentioned is Little Fauss and Big Halsy where he is the little guy and Robert Redford is the big guy. Motorcycle racers. Fun movie with some good quotable stuff. Lucille Benson is perfect as Mama Fauss.

One of the all time great actors, never mind “character” actor.

Too late to edit.

How did I forget to mention Split Second for maybe the third time this week???

Bonk, bonk, bonk!

A fine actor. RIP.

I didn’t know he married Vera from Alice. Who woulda thought?

Maybe he would still be alive if he stayed at Claire’s.

And he was Barney’s doofus cousin Virgil in an episode of Andy Griffith!
