That’s a shame. Somehow I always figured Nick would be the first to go.
RIP.
Are yo kidding me?!?!?
I was just listening to Pink Floyd.
This really, really sucks.
You will be missed Richard…
Moved to [del]the Dark Side of the Board[/del] Cafe Society.
I should have said “next to go.” I always forget about Syd.
oh no.
He was such a great, distinctive keyboard player who, as much as Syd, gave the Floyd their early sound.
Condolences to his family and to everyone who feels as sad as I do at this news.
Remember Richard Wright.
I am sick about this.
I’m gutted.
Sympathies to his family and thanks to Rick for everything, not least the floating chord piano work on Us and Them.
On to the Great Gig in the Sky. We’ll miss ya, Rick!
I thought you were talking about the author of Native Son and I thought JEEZ he must be old.
He will be missed greatly.
Ya know, last week I read a news blurb from Gilmour saying that Pink Floyd would never record another album, no interest in that music, and he saw nothing more to explore with Floyd etc ect.
At the time I thought he was a real and selfish prat.
Now, I think he was just trying to shield Richard.
Shine on, Richard.
and no one sings me lullabies
and no one makes me close my eyes
and so I throw the windows wide
and call to you across the sky

“'Summer '68” is a song that creeps into my head on a fairly regular basis and then I have to listen to it. There’s very few songs as old as that one that I listen to as frequently.
Yes, I was listening to it last night.
Man, I’m suprised as to how little interest this has sparked anywhere.
Only brief mentions if his death in obscure corners of Major News Media websites.
Music back then was so good, and Pink Floyd were certainly top of the top in terms of amazing-ness. Great lyrics, great music, creativity an amazing band really.
And without Rick, they would have not been the same.
It angers me to see how someone so great passes on just like that.
Probably my favorite single (short) Pink Floyd song. Sorry to hear he’s gone.
That sucks. Pink Floyd being one of my favorite bands, I’d always wished I’d been old enough to see them live. There’s certainly no chance of that now.
Wright wrote The Great Gig in the Sky, which is probably my favorite Pink Floyd song. I also love this story:
If I remember my rock history, this tour proceeded to lose money. But only Waters, Gilmour and Mason were sharing the expected proceeds (instead they split the loss). On the other hand, since he was only drawing a salary, Wright ended up making money. Great example of karma in action.
