RIP Rutger Hauer at 75

I, too, enjoyed “Flesh and Blood”, which might as well have been entitled “Sex and Violence”. Unlike a lot of “period” movies, you can watch it and not know when it was filmed. The only downside is the inability of the late Bruno Kirby to suppress his NY accent. “Ya morons. Ya let the plague in here.” RIP, Mr. Hauer.

Miss Goldenbush, mmmmmmmmmmmmm! :o

Great movie, too!

As was Wanted, Dead or Alive, in which his character was a direct descendant of Steve McQueen’s in the TV series of the same name.

RIP, Rutger!

Until right now, I had no idea that Rutger Hauer was in “Blade Runner”.

(actually, all I know about Blade Runner is that it has a cult following among some Science Fiction fans)

He was always worth watching, even if the the movies were sometimes not. One of my favorites that hasn’t been mentioned is Escape From Sobibor, about the largest insurrection in any of the Nazi extermination camps.

He was in a lot of films, but I’ll remember him best from Ladyhawke.

The original big bad from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

RIP, he was a great actor and always fun to watch.

Worth noting that he died in the same year as Roy Batty.

A fantastic but sadly now seldom seen movie. Along with Blade Runner, my favourite Rutger Hauer flick.

Blind Fury is among the handful of Western movies inspired by Asian movies (Zatoichi) that I don’t hate.

Rest well Rutger, you brought joy to so many.

So many good/weird/interesting lesser films.

I’ve always considered Omega Doom a prequel to The Matrix.

Split Second is really fun. Sort of a futuristic buddy cop film but with Rutger the knob is turned up to 11.

And who can forget Hobo with a Shotgun? (And if you can forget it, tell me how to do that.)

Tonight I’m watching a double feature in his memory: Ladyhawke and Hobo With A Shotgun.

Loved him as the melancholy knight in Ladyhawke. Particularly enjoyed his conversations with Matthew Broderick. RIP, Rutger.

Man, I just looked him up the other day to see if he was still active. I sure enjoyed a lot of his movies. He was a favorite of mine, for sure.

RIP Rutger.

:Very sad face:

Seventy-five is a pretty good run for a Nexus-6.

Seriously?

Yes, Blade Runner was set in 2019. That used to sound like the future!

He’d’a been a great Batman, I’ll always maintain.

I’m sorry he’s dead. I’m happy that this thread has a lot of his performances mentioned besides “attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion” (what does that even mean?) I’m embarrassed my favorite Rutger Hauer movie is Split Second (available free on Amazon Prime).

That alone made it OK.
