Honestly, I thought he was dead…
Now how cool is that?!? I want a house that looks like a bank. I would have an armed security guard at my front door, a desk featuring an out-of-date calendar and a leaky pen in the middle of the front hallway on a little table so people could write me checks, and my guests would have to stand in line in front of a teller window to talk to me. My bedroom would be in the vault so no one can sneak in and do unspeakable things on my bed during parties.

IIRC, he was married to the late Geraldine Page. Naturally, the buzzer for their apartment said TORN PAGE.
It just occured to me that its a damn good thing Rip Torn is not a theorectical astrophysicist. Think what he might do to the fabric of space time.

I looked up the word theorectical, just to see if you had misspelled it, or if you were going for the word “rectum” in your description up there, but theorectical IS a real word, so I can’t go or even 
about that, but I do admire your subliminal “weaving” of his name into your phrase “fabric of space time”.

What a real shame. *The Larry Sanders Show *was one of my favourite shows of all time and Rip Torn’s turn as Artie was a big part of why it was so great. A magnetic and charismatic actor and I’m very sorry to see that things are going so poorly for him.
