RIP.
Does that mean Shatner and Takei are the last ones left? Kind of ironic, I suppose, considering their feud.
It does. None of the other main crew/cast members are left now.
My wife met Koenig at DragonCon about a decade ago, and even then, he seemed to be rather frail, but he was still working occasionally.
He was a great villain as Alfred Bester in Babylon 5, and did some screenwriting, as well.
Rest in peace, Mr. Chekov.
We talked about this people, no more iconic figures from my childhood are allowed to die, I thought I had made it clear.
Rest in peace commander Chekov.

I’ve got his signature in my Star Trek RPG book, over his picture as Chekov. He had no idea what he was signing but laughed about it. It was during the filming of Star Trek IV on the USS Ranger.
He always had a good sense of humor about all things Trek, note his self-portrayal on Futurama.
I had a short conversation with him at a convention (IIRC B5 was still on the air). I asked him if Bester had a first name “Alfred, after the author”.
I asked “Was that mentioned in the show?” he replied something like
“that he had the same name as an author – of course not”
“No, was his first name mentioned?”
“Yes, at least once ”
“OK, thanks”
So, that is my short conversation wiih WK.

As I told the friend we shared the news with me earlier, I was literally watching a Bester episode of babylon five last night! Skilled actor and a big part of growing up. Dammit.
Walter had a bigger role as Bester on Babylon 5. It gave him a chance to really act and create a character. Bester was very intimidating.
He was good on Trek, but usually only had a few lines in each episode.
RIP
I’ll make sure to watch out for wessels and have a shot of wodka.
Phasers still locked on target, Ensign. We’ll take it from here.
Thanks for everything.
Chekov never fully recovered from that nasty fall in Trek IV.
I remember being surprised all the older actors went into the water tank at the end of IV. Shatner and the other men’s toupee didn’t float away. ![]()

And then there were two. Mentioned him to my wife last night talking about that old thread about the original outliving the replacement.

The character of Ensign Chekov was one of my inspirations for learning Russian when I was 16. I had my first lesson at TCITY that summer.

That may be the secret of their longevity, each one refuses to give the other the satisfaction of reading his obituary
I re-watched Land of the Lost a few years ago and was surprised to see Koenig wrote at least one episode. Great that he made it to 90.
Another fan for his work as Bester, here.

Did he actually have an accent?
